I have a 2003 DC and my leaf springs are really worn out as well as my shocks. I would like to replace my shocks with Bilstein 5100's but have a few questions about them and whether to replace leaf springs or do AAL.
Do I need to get a new coil for front shocks? What other parts would need to be replaced up front? I see that the shocks have option for 1.33" or 2.0" in the front,
Does the lift have to be even in front and rear?
What are the best options for replacement leaf springs or AAL?? looking to do only 1.5-2 inch lift in rear. What is the advantage of replacing the entire leaf pack as opposed to AAL?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I cut and pasted components for my front and rear suspension from different manufacturer's and would not do that again.
I suggest that you stick with some proven and popular manufacturer like Old Man Emu for your front and rear shocks and springs.

If your leaf springs are worn out then you'll want to replace with a full pack. Adding an AAL to a clapped out leaf pack is like putting a bandaid on a broken arm. Old man emu Dakar springs are a popular pack that won't break the bank. All pro, Deaver, and Alcan are other manufactures.

Hey bud. Just did this. You need to talk to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road or Steven @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc

But this is the setup you want:

Get OME (Old man emu) shocks with 880 coils up front. (This will give you 1.5" up front, if you are stock and not 4x4 - if you are not worries, you get a 1"Ish lift).

For the rear - Dakar leaf pack (remove third leaf, if you have no weight, or carry under 100lbs. That with give you a 1.5" Ish lift. If you don't take out the third leaf, then you will have a stiffer ride and a 2" lift).

Pm me if you need any more help.

I went with Wheelers, because they assemble everything in house/ and remove leafs if you don't have the time/space/money.

I personally like the adjustability of the 5100's, as opposed to the OME shocks. You can adjust them to level out your truck. You just need a free tool rental (spring compressor) from Auto Zone and a couple hours.

As others said, if you feel your springs are worn out, just go ahead and replace everything. The dakars are great mid level springs for the rear, too.

    I sent you a PM.

For the rear do you also need shocks or just the dakar leaf pack? I have a rear camper on it. What do you recommend?
