Small hands. Kung Fu grip. Lighter than an M9 lol. Inside the belt. 9mm seems to be the most common. Carry out of the box. I don't need fancy sights or a freakin flashlight on it.

I think the Glock 19 is worth looking into after searching online. What do you guys think (yes I know, it's all based on me)? Have you heard good things about the firearm from users? I have heard Glock's reputation is unparalleled.

I love mine. I have two, both with XD Big dot sights and reworked triggers. One has stippling, the other doesn't. Have never had a FTE and have put hundreds of rounds through them both. Based on your requirements, I would recommend you rent one and see how you like it. I have a feeling you will.

What do you know about the interchangeable backstraps? Do i get to choose size when I purchase or does it always come with a medium?

What's the deal with safeties on Sig's? I've used manual thumb safeties in the past, and I've read about Glock's trigger safety which I'm comfortable with. Read somewhere that the P320 didn't have a safety. Is that a Sig thing or just the P320?

I've heard those have been having issues, tried to go see one recently and they said they are pushed back working out the kinks

I have an lcp2. I wish I could carry something bigger but I'm too little

cant really deny Glocks, Glock doesnt have the safety unless they changed that recently. But a good holster will protect the trigger. XD is also a good contender.

Truck cap , husky liners, deflector shield, ARE truck cap.
I carry a Glock 19 all the time . Using three different holster setups. In the pants during the summer. Use a Fletch leather holster during the winter while wearing a jacket and a fannypack occasionally.

I have several different semi autos, sig, springfield,Taurus, and my most recent and my EDC is a very subcompact diamondback 9 mm, this is a great lil gun, very inexpensive and is a fine carry, I train with a few SWAT guys in my area and they really like it, and for the price I could not beat it. I paired it with a Inside the waist band N8 2 tactical holster sooooo comfortable.

Just like a few on here have said you really need to handle and shoot to see what feels right. Hope this helped a little bit.

I would recommend you handle a 19 as well as a 43... in a warmer climate the 43 will conceal better. Capacity isn't everything. I always say if 5 rounds of .38 won't get me out of it, then I had no business being there. Remember the first rule of CCW is to avoid the situation and get the hell out of there. The gun is the very last resort, not the first thing you grab. I will say that after MANY hours at the range with a smith j frame snubbie, it is my go to. I carry it 8 out of 10 times. The glock 36 gets some winter miles when the clothes make it easy. No matter what you buy you need to shoot it regularly (monthly) to be sharp and fully competent. Ask any war time veteran, the very last thing you ever want to carry is the burden and pain of taking a fellow human's life.

    My $0.02:
    • +1 on finding a nice range/shop that has lots of rentals you can try. Some have a decent flat rate and even credit the $ back if you buy from them.
    • Don't overlook used or CPOs. Tons of firearms out there barely broken in...
    • 9mm is not my favorite, but if $ is even a factor, I'd go that way for sure.
    • Sub-Compacts are a real compromise. Significantly harder to shoot (Well) If you are only going to buy one, stick with compact or even cary size.

I would suggest a Springfield XDS 9mm, right around your price range of $400 and great size for concealed carry

You've really opened a can of worms with your post. You'll get as many opinions as there is guns so here's mine: I've owned lot of firearms in my 64 yrs and I always felt like everyone of them could be improved somehow, kinda like we are with our trucks. Even though I'm not a hugh Glock fan, I really like the 43 for concealed carry . They are very reliable and affordable. I've also carry a Smith and Wesson Airweight a lot and would recommend it also. Good luck with your choice . If you have a range available, some of them have pistols that you can try before you buy.

+ 1 on the Ruger LCP, I've been down the spectrum on carry guns, and the only gun in my opinion that anyone will reliably and religiously carry is a pocket gun. The LCP 380 is the only good pistol for that. And now they have the updated model of it with an improved trigger.

I even tried the S&W 642 featherweight, which is nice, but the cylinder just sticks out way to far. I carried a glock 30, a 1911, hell even a glock 17, but when you get down to it, a pocket pistol cant be beat.

I carry a Taurus TCP super light weight and easy to conceal especially in Fl. I think I paid somewhere around the $250 looks like this.
