    Hello TW,

I recently got myself a 2019 TRDOR 4x4 DCSB v6AT purchased at 37.2k before TTL with Tech pkg and i am about a few months into owning it but in recent times i have been feeling alot of remorse with this purchase and i how i should've rethought about how i should've done this. Originally i was hoping to buy a vehicle that would do well commuting and being a decent weekend adventure vehicle so i had the bright idea that i should trade in my car (14' Si) and just have 1 vehicle that does all. The only problem is that i have a 72 mi commute 5 days a week that i need to do reliably. But as i think of it more and more i am someone who does not need a truck and only needs one for the weekend adventures and how i should've just gotten a used 2nd gen (which i could off-road and beat up a bit more comfortably) and kept my car for commutes. I have steady income and im not tight on money but im also young and dumb, hence this purchase that i now deeply regret.

So im wondering should i sell before the miles and depreciation runs away on me or should i wait a bit? I also regret not getting the manual trans as i absolutely hate how the auto on this one drives. Can anyone offer some insight on what i could get for my truck on trade or private sale?

Did you buy it new? Did you finance? If you financed, did you put a lot down?
If you financed and didn't put that much down, you are probably upside down for a while. Yes, even Tacomas have depreciation. Sit tight for a while. Maybe buy a cheap beater you can commute with (or maybe a motorcycle, if you are into that).

I bought it new and with trade in value i put down about 10.5k and im financing 30k at 3.5% at 60 months, currently not upside down on it. I cant use a beater because i need to get to work reliably and safety is a also a big requirement for me

Used second gens are $25,000 . Your new truck won't depreciate much . Gl .

I don't know your situation, but you are going to eat the taxes and some depreciation. My guess is $3k to $4k at a minimum. You can buy a fairly reliable driver around here for a couple grand. It may not be pretty, but will start and get you from point A to point B. I have a little Fiat Spider that I drive in nice weather and doesn't leave me stranded (although that is more like $6k).

You are clearly not happy with it and have some money to burn. Trade it in or sell it for something you love and bite the bullet. Just be sure this time.

    4 run, 2 don't
Sold one of my Corvettes to CarMax a few months ago.

Sure the process takes a bit, but I was written a check within an hour or so after the appraisal.

Most people will just buy a new one for what you'll be asking on a used one.

Dealer will probably give you 30k. You’re gonna take a loss. Up to you if it’s worth it.

I’d sit tight a drive it. You already lost money buying new. You’d lose more selling, and buying another car. It’s a reliable truck, you can get reasonable gas mileage if you try, and driving it everyday will remind you to put some thought into large purchases going forward ;).

All this stress because you can't wait to row gears again? The next recession is going to be beautiful
