So i have decided on Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System. From what i have heard and read on the internet they are pretty good. They are 100 watt rms. now i need a good sub. ive had some experience with jlw3. what do yall think. 300 watt rms if i get that what kind of amp needs to be runnin it?

JL makes good amps too. Just try to get as close to the max RMS as you can.

DO NOT waste one dollar on replacing your back speakers - in fact, if you want to improve the sound, put the better speakers up front and disable the rear speakers. I'm only addressing the rear speaker issue...

agreed i have infinity kappas in my rear and one doesnt even put out sound and the other one doesnt stay tight in the housing and it rattles really bad. at one point neither of them played music, that was because of a bad hook up to the amp but theyr hooked up correctly and no sound....

oh and for subs. either two alpine 10" type e's or or one 12" type R (if you dont mind taking up half of your back seat unless you build/buy a custom box) or kickers, 2 10" CVR's or 1 12" CVR would sound great

(the type R runs at way higher RMS than 300, i think the max rms power is like 1000? but it runs at like 600 i think)

I wouldn't go as far as having no speakers in the back. Passengers gotta have their tunes too:D

when you're talking about sound quality up front (where i would guess most people are 99.9% of the time), the rears will only degrade it - unless you significantly upgrade them and add a sound processor... for any serious upgrade - get rid of them.

How would they degrade the sound quality? Waves crossing? Messing up the soundstage? I mean if he put say coaxials back there. I'm not arguing with you either I really don't know the answer to that. Thanks

never heard the JL heard good stuff about em though.

    the CVR's are filthy loud.

what kinda music do you listen to? because that could drastically change your soundsystem setup.

short answer... yes - timing of the sound reaching your ears. most serious upgrades will do one or the other.
