    Hey y’all,

So January 31st at 960 miles my rear differential was replaced after hearing a howl, within two months my truck was back at the dealer 5 times for a popping/clicking noise which until a month ago(truck sat at dealer for a week without even being looked at) was being investigated until I was told it was a “characteristic” of the vehicle even though it didn’t happen until after the fix/rear differential replacement. We also discussed my stumbling transmission, “possible” chattering leaf springs, the popping and clicking noise, and a squeaking passenger seat, with or without someone in it. On Sunday my motor started to stutter, let off the gas the stuttering feeling goes away, it happens sporadically. Monday I get a warning screen saying “Low Oil Pressure Warning” with the symbol, along with a check engine light. Truck was towed to dealer, they say they can find nothing wrong... no light, no stutter. Nothing. The whole experience has been a nightmare. Anything anyone can offer as advice or tips on what to do next? This is my first truck, and first Toyota.

    1.) Stuttering Motor(Sporadic, started recently)
2.) Low Oil Pressure + Check Engine Light(Happened Once Recently)
3.) Stumbling Transmission(I was told no fix for the ‘19 yet)
4.) Popping / Clicking Noise From Rear
5.) Squeaky / Creaking Passenger Seat
6.) “Possible” Chattering Leaf Springs(Technician said “possible”)

Well, since it is under warranty I suggest letting a dealer handle it. You can go to any Toyota dealer if the current one is not providing the results you want. Also, for informational purposes, look into your states lemon law.
You can also call and get a case set up with corporate office. There should be a number in your manual.

Thanks, I am too. I’m glad ya don’t. I hope you enjoy your truck!

Been back and forth with corporate a couple of times, have had a case opened for a 2-3 months. I guess looking into lemon law will be next. Thanks for the input!

My suggestion is trade it for something you'll be happy with.

What is corporate doing for you? Or are they just telling you go to the dealer?

Tried too, far too much negative equity then I would be comfortable with. 4500 miles, they said about $3,500 negative equity. Current/original dealer is not really willing to help so I am going to start looking around.

They are doing nothing. “Go to the dealer or open a lemon law case”.

Don’t trade the truck for anything until your get your money back or put you in something with a fair deal.

Drive it till it breaks and have the dealer fix it. You did your due diligence with them so it’s all documented. I don’t know if I’d trust it on long trips, but I’d literally drive that thing till it blows or something obvious happens and they can’t blame you for it.

My two cents - sounds like you bought a truck that was built on a Monday. In other words, lots of gremlins that all add up to no bueno in the long run.

^^What he said. Get an even trade for a similar truck. Worst case - pursue a lemon law case if you live in an applicable state.

Yeah it’s hard to get a good deal because the truck is so new. Update: Dealer said they could not find an issue with the truck after running a diagnostics check, driving in the parking lot, checking oil level(said it was perfect), and then road tested it. Said the Low Oil Pressure Warning was not on, and neither was the check engine light. Found no issues.

Have had a complaint open since Feb So atleast I have that and everything is well documented. Said the Low Oil Pressure Warning was not on, and neither was the check engine light. Found no issues.

    Thought about it.

Are any of these issues really "duplicate-able"? Can you bring them about in certain driving scenarios? If so, maybe ask the tech to hop in the passenger seat while you try to induce the issues. Other than that, if Toyota won't believe the problems exist, you're down to picture/video documentation and a lemon law...I've run out of cents to offer haha.

What angle was your truck at when you got the low oil pressure? If dealer could find nothing wrong, I suggest you relax and wait for it to happen again. It's very possible it was just a random buggy error message. Be very detailed with your descriptions of your symptoms. The 3.5 engine is known to produce low-oil pressure and start smoking when the trucks are at extreme uphill/downhill angles.

Transmission issues are well documented, some people really hate the way te transmission works in this truck but some people don't care at all and are happy with their trucks. Just something you have to learn accept and get used to.

popping/clunking from the rear. I suggest you check your spare tire chain and tie up and slack with zip ties. It could be that your chain is making noise when it hits parts of your frame or bed. Or perhaps even your spare tire itself is loose and is shifting. I would also ask dealer to check torque on u-bolts (52 ft-lbs.)

Engine chatter that is random and sporadic is normal for these engines. The engine will occasionally go into a different power mode and causes the valves/injectors to sound noisier than usual. The owners manual actually has a disclaimer that states occasional engine knock sounds to be perfectly normal.

Sorry about your troubles. I hate that this is your first toyota and you have so much issues. Toyotas really are good vehicles. We have had 9 toyotas in our family from (tercel, corolla, rav4, camry, and 2 tacomas). Very little maintenance was needed and they just keep running. Don't want to defend the brand too much on your thread, but you definitely have something wrong. Did you talk to lawyer? Did you talk to upper management or write letter/email to owner of dealership? Hope it all works out for you.

Almost a breath of fresh air having someone say such nice things on this forum. I'd suggest escalating a claim with corporate or a new dealership. Every dealership is gonna have things wrong with it but maybe look around for reviews of different places, see if you can find one where reviews mention a good service dept.

Yes. I have duplicated the popping and clicking noise, which was not there until after they did the repairs of the rear differential. As the truck goes faster, the popping and clicking goes faster and faster. From inside the truck it sounds like popping and clicking when on the outside it sounds like metal on metal(easier to hear inside, then out). But was deemed a “characteristic” of the vehicle. The transmission he said they would have to plug my ECU in and check it, then he said there isn’t a flash for the 19’s yet. The chattering leaf Springs the service manager said “oh no the tech said he thought he heard that”. The passenger seat he said there is no fix for it yet. The only thing they have not been able to replicate that I have had 4 times is the motor stuttering which you can physically feel, and hear. But. Until then. Thanks for your help!

Truck was on a completely flat surface. I have duplicated the popping and clicking noise, which was not there until after they did the repairs of the rear differential. A couple of times after the stutter it was making a whirring noise, and friends pointed it out. Thanks for the help and insight!

I appreciate your kind words and it’s great to hear that you have had no issues with your vehicles. I have not talked to the owner yet. Thank you!

Yeah I should have read reviews etc about dealerships. As far as escalating a claim with corporate, i already have a case and all.

    Man that sounds horrible.

First-time Toyota owner here, too. My 2019 has an annoying rattle developing on the dashboard. I know...first-world problems. Knock on wood.

Sounds to me like your dealer has already decided there’s nothing wrong with your truck and that’s that. Nothing is going to move them at this point. I suggest you find another dealer if you can.

    Good luck.

If dealer is unable to duplicate issues, is it really their fault? OP, I recommend you visit another dealer and get their diagnoses on your issues. Ask if you can be with a technician when they look at your truck so you can better show them the issues your having.
