I am really needing some advice, and maybe I am silly for thinking about doing it. Long story short, I had a 2021 TRD Off Road and traded it for a crew cab Silverado. Kept that truck for a short while and got to worrying about reliability. Traded that for a TRD Pro (MSRP) for what the Silverado stickered for. Ended up getting rid of that truck and getting a new F-150, but for some reason, it has just never done it for me even though the kids (12 and 8) have more room. Please, I don’t need to hear any comments on my finances. Don’t worry. I can handle that part. I am looking for opinions. I have an opportunity to get a TRD Off Road Premium MT in Lunar Rock. I know that I will be losing space, but to me the Tacoma was so much more fun to drive. Much easier to park, and get in and out of my hunting spots. I have also been wanting a manual again for a long time. Plus, my payment would be lowers quite a bit. Have any of you guys went this route from full size to mid size and were glad/regretted it? Should I just forget it and keep the full size?

I guess my only advice would be do you need a full sized truck for the towing because of not get the Tacoma… sounds like you already have your mind made up anyways

Yeah, forget it and keep the full size.

With flip-flops like described nobody here knows what'll satisfy you (perhaps nothing will.)

Somewhat joking but really OP.. what do you think you'll get out of this thread?

I'd switch to the new Tundra if I were you. Seems like you just like to switch vehicles a lot.

My question would be what made you go from the Taco to a full-sized pick-up in that TRD OR to Silverado change? If the need for a full-size pickup still exists I'd question if you were going to have the same problem going back to another TRD OR.

I would wait a year or two on the tundra and let them get the bugs worked out on the turbo

I traded my 2500 Ram 4 door long bed diesel in on my Tacoma. The only down side is the space for the kids…for me anyway. I miss the space but I enjoy my Tacoma more. Having owned Tacoma in the past you know what you’re getting and that’s going to be personal pref for you. Good luck!

The trade in (over sticker) that I got for Tacomas, gave me the opportunities to try both full sized trucks. And no, I do not tow. I really miss the maneuverability of the mid size truck more than anything to be honest.

If finances are no issue buy a tacoma, and keep the full size truck. Problem solved.

Well that’s a very personal decision. I traded in my full size Ram 1500 for the Tacoma and haven’t regretted it for a moment.

Not sure if that helps or not.

Well, I understand the points others are trying to make, but from my perspective, the MT in the Tacoma overrides all other considerations; get the freakin' Tacoma!

Then this is a very hard question to answer, since it's based on personal preference. I've owned a Ram 1500, a Ford F150, and a Silverado. I think of the 3 choices you're probably in the best shape with what you have, but it's your money and your preference. Only you know what you'd be the most satisfied with.

You'll miss the space/power/ride quality of the F150. But the manual trans. is fun.

You married? You have kids? You have plans for the future? You have responsibilities?

Yeah... I think you need to hear. You opened this can of worms. The question is whether you will only hear those that feed your impulses.

I don't agree that he opened the can of worms. His original post specifically asked for people please not to comment on his finances. I'm surprised it took 14 posts for it to happen.

    Get a F-250/350

Fullsize trucks are boring to drive, with the exception of a Raptor or TRX and I'm just guessing. Midsize, especially a Tacoma will always be more fun to drive.

I guess I would keep the F-150, if you really want the Tacoma buy it. I like the 3rd gen myself, but I don't think I'll be buying one. Maybe a few years ago pre pandemic when prices were more reasonable, and build quality was better.

I'd consider a 4Runner or a heav duty domestic pick up if I was buying new.

I think you answered your own questions. I'd say get the Tacoma and don't look back but I'm sure on the Silverado and F150 owners site you'll get the opposite. I'm no fan of the new 5.3 chevy v8. Riddled with major issues but I'm not sure which motor you had. Ford is great about turbo charging lawnmower engines.

With two kids look into the 4Runner, it will have the room you're going to need for the fam while still being smaller and easier to get into the places you like to go.

I have 2 kids also (12 and 17) and the back seat of the Taco is not great. We don't ever go anywhere as a family of 4 in it, we take the wife's Yukon. Back seat of the taco might be ok for little kids, but it's pretty tight.
