I need to get the gas out of my 3rd gen tank as it must have some water in it. Can I do the trick with the fuel pump relays and fuse or will that ruin some thing? How do I do that properly? If I can, where can I find the schematic for the leads? Thanks in advance

Why not run HEET or Seafoam through it?

Small hose past the anti-siphon in the filler neck and pump it out?

    Drop the tank?

    Hole saw?

put a bottle and a half of Heet in the tank and incidentally disconnected reconnected the battery to clean the terminals. ran great for 19 miles. Now it will not go above 27 miles an hour and I have a check light on. Also odd, a full tank usually says about 260 miles to empty now it says 385. I’m letting it idle for a while to burn some gas with the heat on full blast.

Heat setting won’t do anything except heat up the cabin. AC setting would increase fuel consumption by a small amount

Go to a parts store and ask them to check codes.

I’m not sure what the danger is really, but if it won’t run right, I’d stop running it and drain the tank like you set out to do in the first place.

Running the heat won’t do anything.

Yes, I knew it was Heet gas line antifreeze. I turned the heat on so the truck wouldn’t overheat sitting there idling for an hour.

just let it idle overnight until it's almost empty and then refuel with quality ethanol-free gas. try star-tron, it's what i use when i get bad batch of water/gas.
