    Hello!

My family and I live abroad and will be coming back to California next week for a 1.5 month visit. We need to order a carseat to have there ahead of time for our family to pick us up at the airport. The issues is we need to find a carseat for the back part of my husbands 2010 Toyota Tacoma, which only has access cab with drop down seats, not full seats in the back.

Our son is 15 months old. We we were home last year, we used the Keyfit 30 system with base and everything, but he's obviously too big for that now.

    Does anyone have any suggestions??

    Thank you!

    Get a dbl cab...

I wanted an access cab, but couldn't find a car seat that would fit in it, so I bought a double cab. good luck.

I wish we could. We have a SUV where we live, but my husband had already had his access cab from before we even met and since we only use it when we fly home for yearly visit, not in the budget to change to double cab for the time being. If/when we move home... absolutely!!

I can assure you, no backwards carseats will fit the ac cab. maybe a slim forward facing one? I went in toys r us as they have a large selection and asked them if I could pull up and try seats.

He's wrong here mine....and my 6'1"" brother has rode in the front many of times!!! There is even more room if I don't use the base but it's way easier with the base! Good luck it can be done fairly easy!!

Honestly there isn't much more room in a Double cab bc of how much farther up the seat sits in the back. I tried one before I got my access cab!! But knew I wanted 4 cyl 5 speed

Solution: Put the child in the front (rear facing) turn airbag off and an adult sits in the back seat.

Thank you! So, you tried this in your access cab and it fit both rear facing and forward facing?

I didn't try it. But if you go look at one they are very narrow and done take up much space. It was a good built seat with steel frame!! Like I said I'm using my britax bsafe 35 rear facing but gonna go to that when he gets turned around

Wait till you have to go forward facing, your poor kid wont be able to bend his or her legs.

Yeah it's def not the best of situations but can be done.... with the front seat flipped down and forward there is plenty of room.... with a passenger it's doable! Anything can be done.

I have TWO babby seats in mine (access cab).
Front facing like this https://www.amazon.ca/Diono-Rainier-Seat-Shadow-Black/dp/B00ISS2S6A for the big one behind the driver's seat, and a fairly compact rear facing in the CENTER position. Rear facing takes more space because they have to recline for the tiny ones, so middle is necessary in order to gain a bit of extra space between the two front seats.

I unfortunately had to sell my first Tacoma for this reason! I couldn't find a good long term solution in an access cab.

That's some good info!! People say it can't be done before they try... but these trucks have the largest back seat area in the mid size extended cab group by far!!!
