OK.. finally the time to do the spark plug change, frist time and use chris4x4 write up on it. Took me 2 hrs to do all 5 plugs.. The one is on the driver side frist one nearest the battery. took me a while to unhook the plug, and get the cap out. When I put the spark plug socket down there,, it wont catch the plug. . I cant get the damn thing on the spark plug in order to get it out. How you guys do it????

Took me about an hour, being very careful & taking it slow, and I didn't have any DIY instructions either. I guess old age & experience DO help....

What he said, long extension or 2 short ones together will work. I also used black electrical tape wrapped around socket to extension, make sure you have that rubber piece inside the socket as well to grip the plug when you pull it out.

    X2 on the electrical tape.

I think I remember having to disconnect a few things - wire looms/hoses to make more room.

When I did mine on my '06 it only took me like 30-45 minutes to do all 6 of them. The biggest suggestion I have is to make sure that your extension is long enough that you can seat the socket with your hand and then attach the ratchet. That makes a world of difference.

Today. Took a long hard look at the hoses and chris 4x4 photos. I have a 6 inch extension plus a 3 inch extension. I had to remove four pices of hoses and move the wire hardnes out of the way. Voila got that last plug out and install new one. Yup use electrical tape. Only this one is a royal pain in the ass. One near driver side at battery side.

Glad it worked out for ya. That electrical tape trick works wonders on keeping that socket and extension together, I have a lot of extra extensions & spark plug sockets so I just leave that setup permanently in my toolbox just for the Taco.

When I remove this harness from the ignition coil (spark plug located closest to to the battery) I typically use a flat head screw driver to depress the clip on the plug and use another flat head screw driver placed between the harness and ignition coil and slowly rotate to disconnect. Works for other ones that won't disconnect too.

2x what Mega said. I used the med size flat head screwdriver. Long enough to reach and room for your fingers to feel it. Using your finger to depress the clip and srewdriver wedge out the socket.
