Need help diagnosing a leaking cv problem on my truck. 2013 SR5 4x4. I had bad leaks out of both sides of my front diff about 2 months ago. Replaced the seals on both sides and no issues. Just a couple days ago I noticed a slight oil leak on my driver side cv again. Not enough to where it’s dripping but it coats the CV and the front diff. I also noticed a fair amount of axle play, which I am not sure if it is beyond normal or not, but seemed to be more than I remembered previously. I looked into cv and needle bearing issues and I don’t have any other symptoms such as clicking when turning or shudders when driving. I am fairly certain that I installed the new seal at the right depth but it is possible that I pushed it too far in, however I didn’t notice it leaking until now (2 months later) and I checked it multiple times after installation. My plan as of now is to replace the needle bearing with the ecgs bushing and do a new seal while I’m in there due to the axle movement and slight leak but any knowledge or advice would be appreciated. Video of the axle movement is attached.

Did you put the original axles back in, or replace them? If you replaced them, did you use OEM, or aftermarket? I've read of some aftermarket axles leaking. I've replaced both of mine myself with rebuilt OEM axles and haven't had any leaking, but they were replaced for other reasons.

Your photo looks like you have pretty big tires that poke quite a bit. Do you have long travel or are your suspension and CVs OEM specs?

Make sure the vent for the front diff is clear and working properly. Don't assume the seal is bad until you have made SURE the vent is working and clear. Both sides leaking is a sign that something else is wrong.

Suspension and cv's are oem specs and the cv's are the original axles from the truck. Only thing done to them are the CVJ high angle inner boots. I examined them when I did the seals 2 months ago and they appeared to be in good shape. I checked the vent first thing when I discovered this leak, it was my first time examining the vent so I am not exactly sure what I was looking for. I did notice that the cap on the vent for the diff was much tighter fit to the hose than the one on the vent located next to the diff one, however it did not seem to be so tight that air could not get out. I tried blowing the vent out with an air compressor and cleaning it off but it did not seem to help much. I am not sure how that cap for the vent is supposed to fit with the hose so it could be the culprit.

Edit: come to think of it, I did also notice some oil where the driveshaft meets the diff. If oil is seeping here too, would it be indicative of over pressurization from a bad vent?

Yes, if I saw that I'd immediately start thinking plugged vent before anything else.
