Hey all- anyone local that can help me with a wiring issue?

my third brake light no longer works. Replaced and still inop. Fuses good, tail lights work, just cannot figure it out. Was working just fine.

I’ll cover gas and lunch if you can come help!

Did you replace with LED's? Do you have the polarity right?

On some older trucks (94 GMC Sierra for certain) will blow fuses if using LED bulbs with no load resistors may be worth double checking the fuses in all locations in the cab and under the hood.

Are all your brake lights out or just the third?

If all could be your brake light switch at the pedal.

I wish I saw this earlier. I could come help but I have a cookout/birthday party to attend to today.
Tomorrow (Monday the 5th) after work? I get out at 3:00.

Do your main brake lights work? Have you done anything to the truck such as an aftermarket third brake light, aftermarket rear combination lights or anything electrical?

Yes my main brake lamps work
    I checked all fuses.
There is old topper wiring and aftermarket tow hitch wiring installed.
Every single bulb in the car is LED.
The passenger tail lamp is DEPO.
the third brake lamp is aftermarket LED from Amazon

I think the connector for the third brake lamp is under the left kick plate from what I’ve read.

Have you checked for power/ground at the third brake lamp?

Starting to sound like a broken wire.

Do you have a meter to check continuity at the plug?

no I don’t. It’s strange because I know it was working. What sucks is not knowing when it went out. I removed the trailer hitch- I wonder if that’s when it happened. I know LEDs can cause some unpredictable outcomes as well.
I’d love to ditch the trailer and topper wiring but I’m not comfortable ripping out wires. I’ll probably wreck more stuff.

havoc- if you are available Monday, I’d greatly appreciate the assistance.

I did try the brakes with the new third brake lamp installed- of course it was raining so I had no choice but to install it knowing it was not working so I didn’t end up with a deluge in the roof. But it should come off easy enough. The gasket is adhered to the truck so should separate from the lamp itself.

I thin the wires connect under the left kick plate.

I wish I knew SOMETHING about wiring and electrical but I know I don’t. So I’m not about to start checking and undoing things. That’ll lead to worse issues I’m sure.
