hey guys bought a house and neighbor has a fence on the left side, so i will need basically 3 sides .. a L shaped and then the two small sections on each side of the house.... HOA requires fence to be shadow box .. but my question is should i do all sides or just butt up to neighbor... only reason i ask is because my neighbor fence has a fence now but it turned since its been in the weather now for 2 years.. and mine would look all nice and new.. or just save the money as mine would look like that eventually..

First you need to talk to neighbor, they might split cost with you of replacing old fencing. I'd butt up to their fence otherwise. Always better to ask.

I don't think your neighbor will want to replace a 2 yr. old fence. I would probably butt up to their fence, but let them know what you plan to do. Your fence will look just like theirs in a year or two.

just talk to you neighbor about staining the fence and then it will all look the same.

Dont' do new on the one that is up. It is rather pricey to rip out a fence and put it back especially since it is only 2 years old.

Make sure you know where your property line is before you put up a fence, sometimes you need about two feet of your property on the otherside of the fence, for maintenance purposes.

Not sure but here in Hawaii you can't butt to your neighbors fence unless they say it's ok, here we have to stay a foot away from boundary if we put a fenc around our property. I highly dought your neighbor will want to change her fence anytime soon cause two years old is still new.

    2 year old fence ? Replace !!??
You're being retentive. Don't bring this up with your new neighbor....he'll think you're a nut.

Just match what's there and it will weather in.
