I am trying to get my EMT license and I am a little confused. They want to know if I have been convicted of a misdemeanor but I am uncertain. I pulled my national criminal history report and this is the info I got from them. It happened in NC. If u can offer some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, it looks like you were convicted based on the info provided, and
I assume you are worried about not being hired in the future due to your misdemeanor. If I were you, I would try to get it expunged off your record. I am a firefighter/paramedic and know how difficult it is to get hired, especially with something on your record. On a different note, you could always play dumb in an interview and state that you didnt know that you were driving in an illegal area and try to convince the employer of your innocence. If you have any questions, let me know

Yup, looks like it. You should be able to get it expunged like before mentioned.

    .
You need to contact the clerk's office in that county and ask them, under disposition it says waived, find out what that means.

I'm not sure what's causing your uncertainty.

Also, if you go the "claim ignorance" route, I hope the interviewer isn't a TW member...

I agree that getting a lawyer to try to get it expunged is something that should be done... but you can't honestly answer 'no' to the question 'Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor?'

Having it removed from your record doesn't = making it disappear from reality.

My only thing is that they want police reports and details of the incident and I haven't a clue as to what happened. I don't even remember getting a ticket.

Whatever you do, don't lie about it! They'll eventually find out and fire you for lying on your application. See what a lawyer says, like others have recommended. Good luck!

Not planning on lying about it. Called the state ems office and they said that it doesn't sound like a big deal, to just submit my application and if they need more info they will contact me.

I'm really confused now... You were convicted of a class 3 misdemeanor and you don't even remember?

I'd contact the police department and ask them how to get your hands on the information you need. They probably can't provide it directly, but they can probably direct you to somebody who can.

So you were 26 and in NC. Sound right? If you really don't remember then you should definitely look into this further and make sure it's really you

I was in NC at the time but I really don't remember anything. I tried calling the clerk of courts in Jones county a dozen times today but I could never get anyone on the phone. I will try calling again tomorrow.
