    I am looking to either:

    1. Trade in my truck for an access cab TRD sport 6MT in cavalry blue

    Or

    2. Buy a bed extender and mobtown tailgate reinforcement for my 2018 auto dcsb trd offroad

Dealer has agreed to offer $30k for my dcsb tacoma for an access cab TRD Sport which they will take 33,500 OTD for. I feel like this is a pretty good deal and is ideally worth losing $3500 over considering I would love the extra bed space and the only person that rides in my truck is my girl as a passenger or my dog in the back.

Financially speaking I can swing it and afford to pay the truck off (but won’t because 1.9% financing) but am wondering if this is a dumb financial move in terms of resale and the new 2020 coming out.

Can some grey beards give a dumb kid some advice?

For reference I will soon be 24 and the reason for keeping the 2018 is because I wonder if in 3-5 years my situation with the girl will change and family like responsibilities will be introduced causing me to have to buy a double cab... or god forbid a 4Runner or sienna.

But for now, an access cab to fit my dirt bikes, surf boards and street bikes would be a killer deal... not to mention I love cav blue and banging gears (even though the 6 speed in the Tacoma is kind of ass) hoping to fix with OV Tune and a clutch upgrade, short throw etc

    4 run, 2 don't
    Keep the current truck.

I see more people complain about losing cab space vs bed space.

Pay a fabricator 3500 to build you a cool motorcycle rack for the bed.

For 3.5k I'd do it and have what you want. As long as you can swing it.

If I didn’t let money drive my decisions I would have a TRD Pro, a WRX STI, Type R, Z06 and a mess of motorcycles with $100k in debt while I live in a 1 br apartment lol

This would be my take as well. But that is per my preference. If you need bed space more than cab space, it sounds like a decent enough deal. I know I can be a bit impulsive so taking a little bit of time can help. Or it can be the only thing that I think about until I’d make the deal ;) Not sure if I’ve helped, but hopefully you can find some semblance of wisdom in my rambling.

No way. Double cabs will be much more versatile in the future. You can carry dirt bikes/boards with ease even in the short bed. Trailer works, too. Save the $3.5k and put it in a Roth.

Haha! OK, good point, let me add detail. Don't let $ that you can afford drive your decision. :)

The dreaded Roth. Always taking $458 a month out... as much as I hate it now I hope I love it (and make it) to actually use it

You sound like myself, I frequently am impulsive but do virtually nothing about it. It took $35k in the bank and 3 years of drooling and 1 year of thinking to make my decision to even buy a Tacoma. I’m a sad, cheap and indecisive individual but gosh darnit I love Tacoma’s

If you're putting money into all those investment vehicles at 24 (assuming you've got 401k, etc), you will be well set by the time you're my age. Keep at it. It will be worth it.
