Thank you for the information. I don't think I will have a problem with the desert though. This is my daily driver, I don't plan on doing any playing offroad. I just wanted to add a set of tires and wheels and a little lift.

Would you recommend the billsteins and 265s over the lift?
I've also thought of going with 265s now and then when I wear them out, going with the 285s. If I get the billsteins now, can I add the 3" lift later and keep the billsteins?

    thanks!

im sure there isn't. you will be fine fine with 285's, a 3 inch lift and some triming

you can fit 265's with billsteins no prob. billstein has a strut that you can adjust up to 2.5" of lift. but i still recommend aftermarket uca's if you have the money.

the set up is fine if you never go offroad.

The rubbing depends on the backspacing and offset of the wheel.
If you go with a wheel with approx. 4.5" backspacing or -12mm offset then you will most likely rub a little bit on the rear body mount at wheel lock. Otherwise you'll rub a little on the front plastic which is no big deal if you know how to use a razorblade. Don't be afraid to trim!

    Easiest & best lift= bilstein 5100.

Decrease your rubbing with 285's by going with a wheel with zero offset or 3.5" backspacing. The wheels will come flush with the fenders.
Don't worry about the ball joints on your UCA since you wont be blasting off road. This will also help with your tire clearance as most aftermarket UCA's factor in additional caster angles that push the tire back, thus increasing tire rub.

Spacers are a waste of money. With bigger tires you need better control, a spacer will not provide this.

If you're after that sick gnar look, run 285's, if you don't care and want a slightly bigger tire w/o worrying about any rub what so ever, go 265 and bilstein 5100 at 1.75" lift.

The smaller tire might be a better bet since you'll be taking your truck off road where a civic could go. Better MPG and cheaper...

if he's going for a street queen, 285's with a leveling kit will work fine. I went from 245/75/16's bone stock (no lift) and put 17" 265/70/17 BFG All-Terrains without a moment's hesitation. I don't have even a hint of rubbing even at full lock. I will ALWAYS put a BFGoodrich product on my rigs. It's worth the money for the reliability day in and day out. I get at minimum 65,000 miles plus on them every time. I will consider replacing the All-Terrains with the KM2's when the time comes, but that won't be for a while.

i agree with you on everything, except iv never heard of anyone rubbing more with aftermarket uca's.

This is some great information. Thanks!
The Motos have the 4.5" backspacing and -12mm offset. So if I run them with the 265s and billsteins, will I still have potential problems rubbing on the body mount???

I'm leaning toward the 265s and billsteins. I can always add a lift and go with 285s in a year or so when I need new tires... right???

If you say this is your street queen go with Toyo tires. Nittos are nice tires but wear away quick, Toyos last alot longer and if you decide to maybe take it on a trail one day the Toyos do better off road also. Our sherrif's department down here has a group of deputies that patrol the woods and game preserves and they are issued F350's with 10" of lift and they run 38" tires and they have gone through every off road tire you can imagine and put alot of miles on them on the street and they have decided to use nothing but the Toyo open country M/T because of the quality and how long they last. They may cost a little more but in the long run it works out.

Oh yeah and if you live in Alabama go with what ever wheels you want. If you like chrome go for it, you wont have a problem with oxidation like some people do. Just keep them clean and make sure you polish them once in a while.

What about running the toytec ultimate lift at preset height, adding TC UCA's, and a toytec diff drop, would there be any problems with rub if I went with running BFG AT 285s with KMC Addicts 17's on this setup?

No you will not rub with two six five's and and those moto's.

I'd go bilstein that way if you want more lift from say, .85, 1.75, or 2.5 you have the options available on the fly. And when it comes time to changing tires and you wanna go up to two-eight-five's, just click the shock up to 2.5 and do some minor trimming.

In the long run, bilstein is superior to a spacer, NOT only in performance but in price. $100= spacers, $150= shocks. 50 bucks isn't even a tank of gas!

BFG's are good, but don't undermine or over look the competition. There is a lot of good tire choices to choose from that are just as good.
Depends on how much caster is dialed in. With a bigger tire size additonal negative caster aids in better control of the wheel/tires. Negative caster pushes the wheel/tire back, towards the body mount and rear plastic. Aftermarket arms provide additonal negative caster to compensate for bigger wheels and tires.

Nitto's do not wear fast, period. I've had 2 sets and they last just as long as BFG or any other company on our light trucks. Yea TOYO MT's are good, but again, comes down to what you're after. Do you really need a MT?
Go with whatever tickles your pickle.

Yes there would be. You would need to crank on the coil to lift the truck at least 2" to properly clear a 33" tire.

They were born out of california deZerts. These guys drive big Fords with tons of chrome and 12" lifts with sick gnarly 38" TOYO MT's. The front sits WAY higher than the rear. They got a bunch of motorcycles in the rear, they love to say DGAF (dont give a fuk) and they wear flat billed hats sidways, black socks pulled up high, black shirts with skulls and SPY glasses. There chicks are termed bro-hoes...

Unfortunately these bro's are beginning to infect the southern states now too

Hmm, I was wondering what a BRO was too. Now I'm learned. Thanks.

So a tire alone can dictate if someone's a BRO? That's sound like a stupid assumption someone earlier made.

hahah nah, the tire doesn't I was just using the toyo as an example. But bro's do run MASSIVE oversized tires.

The desrciption of a "BRO" sounds just like a bunch of California nancy boys

Everybody that i've known to have Nittos says they will never by them again, this southern heat does wear them down.
