    Hey guys,

I live in upstate NY and am looking for a newer Tacoma for work. i have a budget of under $23000 and I'd like something under 40,000 mi preferably CPO. This basically elimates me from getting any kind of trd package or anything like that. Any thoughts on purchasing an i4? I'll be on the road a lot and loading basic things like a couple sheets of drywall or some paint here and there. Can I get away with getting an i4? And will it look cool if i lifted or got new tires for it?

Something under 40k miles, CPO, and under $23000. That’d be one hell of a find. You may find a prerunner 2.7 access cab at that price. So if you don’t need 4wd or a double cab, you’d be fine. That 4banger with mountains/hills will irritate you if you’ve had six cylinders in the past. My bf hates my four cylinder but I don’t mind. It’s just a real drag sometimes.

Thats true however I'm trying to buy local here and buying a truck for more miles generally means rust. Especially from all the snow and salt up here!

It may be beneficial to consider buying outside of your area. Consider a one way ticket to the south. Every now and then, you can find a gem that falls into your price range but you would need to come to terms that the vehicle would probably have higher miles. Do not be afraid of miles though. These things will last forever if taken care of properly. I have a 2013 and I'm at almost 100k miles with no major issues so far.
