I think that my wheel bearing has gone out on the front left of my 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4wd. It makes a clunking and screeching sound while driving. There’s also play in the wheel itself when I place my hands at the 12 and 6 o’clock position and push/pull it. Also in the picture is where the free play is at, marked by the red circle. You can also see it in the video. I just want to confirm that if I swap out the wheel bearing/hub assembly that this problem will be fixed. Thank you for your time if you’re able to help out.

The video won’t upload. If you know how that’d be cool to help.

The play is definitely a wheel bearing issue and more than likely the noise is coming from that as well.

That’s what I thought but since this is a first for me I wanted to confirm before ordering parts. Thanks a lot man.

I saw those and was considering but I also need them sooner than later so I might go to a local store and get them. Any suggestions?

@05Taco4x4 is your man. Excellent service, product, and packaging is no joke (you'll see) lol
Turn around time is quick, don't settle for anything else IMHO.
Good idea to do a ECGS bearing while you're in there too...

Mistakes have already been made to get to that point. Stop the bleeding, get towed and do it right. :spending:

Easy to say when you're not the one footing the bill, stuck, or having to get a rental while you wait.

I've been there, no doubt about that...the advice, however, remains the same...although I sympathize for sure.

3 hrs from home not paying that tow bill sorry. I'll be sure to message you though when it happens again so you can pay that bill:thumbsup:. BTW the bearings that went out were factory ones that I replaced a little over 30k miles ago.

Please take some "dad" advice for what its worth and don't ignore mechanical issues to the point that your rig leaves you on the side of the road, 3 hours from home. No charge for said advice.
As a side note, if you replaced bearings 30k ago and they already failed...please see previous advice about doing it right the first time. Something clearly wasn't right...

Ok I've tried wording this several times as to not sound like a dick. But this is the best I can put it without completely getting this thread off topic and I don't think the OP was looking for this.
You came on here with tons of assumptions, "DAD" advice stop assuming, it makes you look bad.

I gave the OP information so he can make a decision based on his budget, timeframe, etc. so back to the regularly scheduled show :stayontopic:

I got the Carquest brand sold by Advance now. I know a few people who have use the Dorman ones with success. I don't expect them to be the top quality or last forever but with how I use my truck and the stresses I put on them they are holding up fine. Plus my stores locally carry them. There are better quality ones out there. Like the guy on here that sells them. If your play is't a crazy amount and you can afford the ones from the dude on here and wait till Wed that may be a better route. It's all up to you.

I would highly suggest replacing the wheel bearing as a whole hub assembly. It comes assembled already with the hub, bearing, seals, and mounting bolts.

I made this video on how to replace it. Hope it helps. - FixItPhillip
