Okay ill start at the beginning of the shit storm. About a year ago my friend got me a job doing landscaping at a farm. 1st day of work I saw this pretty beat up white Tacoma sitting in a field. Flat tires, seats were stolen, really beat up bed and tailgate, rats nests everywhere. Asked my buddy about it and he said it's been sitting there a long time. As it turns out some guys ended up stealing it and my bosses trailer full of tools. Truck was found down the road with burnt up clutch and trailer was never seen again. So anyway the truck sat in a field for years because it needed a clutch replacement. Later that day when boss went to pay me I asked him about buying the truck and he said he'd sell it to me for $2500 and let me work it off. Months later I finish working it off, get it towed to my house. Slap a battery in it to my surprise it started right up, man I was stoked. 200 beers later 4 days and two friends and no transmission jack we get the clutch in (I'm by no means a mechanic, forgot to put anti sieze on the transmission bolts fml). Start her up and the clutch actually works but no power steering... So I buy a new power steering pump and install it only to find out I didn't have power steering because of a clogged screen in the resivor(fml). So I'm finally ready to drive right, no my intake air control valve is stuck open so I replace that. Replace the oil and coolant fill diffs and tcase (stripped back diff fill fml). Finally driving and everythings smooth besides the fact I'm still finding rats nests in little hidden places every other day. Okay so been about a year and I decided I wanted to do a tune up, spark plugs, air filter, PVC valve. Open up my air box and what do you know king rats nest (fml) and the dirtiest pos k&n filter on earth. Remove the intake and start replacing the spark plugs. The one second closest to the cab had oil on the boot for wiring the plugs. Any thoughts? Start installing the new plugs and on the third one snap I broke the bolt that keeps that wiring in place fml. Wasn't bad got it out and replaced the bolt. Now on to the pcv valve, had to use a breaker bar to get it off. Installing the new one and for some reason I though it was 10 pounds tourque. I know I'm an idiot and its completely my fault. And then a loud snap which I though was my tourque wrench telling my its good but no it was my valve cover cracking. Will post pictures tomorrow. Curios if anyone else has done the same thing over tightening the pcv valve? Do you guys think this would be repairable with jb weld or am going to have to start looking for a new valve cover? Any helpfull advise would be appreciated. 1st time posting so take it easy on me haha

How much could a valve cover cost? Just replace it and get a new gasket.

Oh shit just saw it was an I4, I just threw one away, uhhh hmmm, I know LCE performance sells them. Not very expensive either and you can choose Red or Black haha. Make sure you get one for the right year, some years are a bit different.

That's great lol. Well 4 are spoken for - 2 for my engine, 2 for the one I swapped out, and 2 are from a bhg I bought for $180 and had a self guided lesson on engine components with. Those are on my engine so my nice painted ones don't get scratched up when I put the engine in:

Just checked LCE performance price isn't half bad. Anyone ever used aftermarket valve cover? I'm gonna sleep on it, will post pictures in the morning, may be repairable

LCE is quality stuff and they rebuild these engines en masse so those are probably genuine Toyota covers that have been repainted and cleaned.

IMG_0085.jpg IMG_0089.jpg IMG_0090.jpg Alright just slapped some jb weld on the crack, so I can hopefully make it to work tomorrow. Gonna order a new cover and gasket from LCE. Here's some pictures of the crack with some jb weld. Might need trophie for dirtiest air box/filter? Don't ask about the paper towels or the ratchet straps
