i used rubbing compound to get the gunk off, also goo gone will take that off pretty easy. once you have done that take some polishing compound or wax to even the faded paint with the relatively "new" paint that was underneath the badges and you should be good to go

If that residue is the adhesive, get a clean rag w/some Diesel on it & rub it down good, if its still some decal material get a heat gun (be careful with it ) & a plastic spatula gently scrap it off this worked for me....

If it gets hot enough i don't see why you can't. It's basically the same thing. I was orginally told to use a hair dryer to get the emblems off.

Yeah, if you have one that gets hot enough, mine didn't so heat gun was used & like Justin said a light grade of compound will clean things up, wash wax after, as far as the 3rd brake light goes I took mine off , 2 screws on the lens, but pain in the ass to change the bulbs....

i used paint thinner on a clean rag and scrubed it off then wiped down the area with another rag soaked with just water to get the paint thinner off before it set in. i tried getting it off with goo gone which works fine its just time consuming.

I just took mine off about a week ago and to get the adhesive off i used my finger nail and to get the left over residue off I just used windex and alot of elbow grease..... I'm sure goo gone would work but I didn't want to spend the money if I didn't have to.
