I've flipped more Tacomas than jeeps. Just saying.
Also, dont let your mom be too controlling... Ed Kemper had a controlling Mother and it ended up kind of weird.

Either way, you'l be stoked on the Tacoma regardless of the configuration. Just dont try to wheel the 2WD too hard :) I've been there before!

Hard to imagine that :hattip:I plan on buying a jeep either during or after college when I have enough saved to buy a project. But I've definitely wheeled some of my other 2wd carts and quads pretty hard

I did a lot of that in my XJ. All trying to keep up with my buddy whose grandparents bought him a brand new 2nd gen, the first year they were out... we raged. But he kept it in better shape than most would have thought (he was busy instigating me to ford 5 foot deep water crossings)

A Tacoma isn't "the next best thing." It's a better thing, period.

Jeeps have huge reliability problems - you couldn't pay me to own one.

So i’ve been told, just hard to find many other vehicles with 4x4 and a m/t.

I had a Jeep before the Tacoma and I loved that thing. 2 door, stick shift, top down, doors off it’s so easy to have fun. But as much as I loved it my life dictated that I needed a truck so the Tacoma was an easy switch. I did experience some reliability issues though and I’m sure had i owned it for the long haul I would have encountered even more, serious, and expensive problems. I’m pretty sure my head gasket was about shot. Dodged a bullet I guess. Jeeps are generally toast by 200k miles. I’ve had the Tacoma for way more years and miles now and haven’t had any reliability issues to speak of, but i do miss top down doors off....

I’d be interested in the new Jeep truck someday if it
    A. Was cheaper
    B. They took the opportunity to craft something unique, not just a wrangler with a bed (I know there are differences but come on it’s a wrangler with a bed
    C. Wasn’t manufactured by FCA

I love the 6-speed in the new rubicon though!
