Hey guys just wanted your opinion on wheels and tires. I'm looking into getting the method standard wheels with duratec tires. My question for all of you is do you think I should go with 16 or 17 in rim and 32in or 33in tires? I don't do serious off roading just trail rides here and there and camping. Currently have toy tec ultimate lift running at 3 inches on my 2002 Tacoma extended cab . Any opinions would be great. Thanks -

Also any one know the correct back spacing for the rims...

I just got 285/70/17 KM2's on 17" Mickey Thompson Classic Locks, They do look a little Rimsy but I plan on going bigger tires in the future so I stuck it out on the 17".
I do like the 285/75/16's if thats as big as your going...

Mine came with 16s. Put on 17s due to a great deal i found. Dont care for too much sidewall.

Would I have to trim anything if I went with the 285 tire.

Yes if your gonna be wheelin, but super easy. Search Cab/body mount Chop and hammer down the pinch weld.

And cutting and rolling fender metal too... everyone forgets that. I didn't even realise till it became obvious during my cab mount chop.

But it has to be cut... most people think they do not have to cut anything but cab mount and plastic. Oh, and I prefer the 17" wheel because 99% of the time a 285/70R17 is bigger than a 285/75R16 and I want the largest tire that I can fit without rubbing.

So I got my 285/70/17 Km2's on, you will definitely need a 3" lift up front, I put my kings up front and haven't adjusted them yet, and I rub with 2" and cab chop and trimming.
Oh yeah if you havent already, Instead of banging the pinch weld I cut it, looks a lot cleaner.

you guys do realize he has a 2002 first gen right? I dont recall he would have to hammer the pinch weld or do a body/cab mount chop. as far as trimming plastic maybe but ive heard its a little easier to fit a 285 on a first gen being they have a rounded fender well where as the 2nd gen is more of a square i guess...
