Ironically I've decided not to buy it. As much as I would love to pick it up I would much rather have an 04 v6 fully loaded extended cab. Maybe I will kick myself but the wife agrees with me on that. I found one at a dealer with 88,xxx on her so there out there.

I think you made the good call. Although i will say for 10 years old that truck was in immaculate shape. I think you will be happier with the extra space and the accessories of the extended cab.

Lol @ everyone acting like it's the steal of a deal of a century. TBH, when talking about $11k for a 10 year old base model herp derp truck.. I would go new ..
People acting like the only difference between this truck and a new one is the price. Lol no...umm warranty? If you walk in a dealer with $11k cash...the dealer will kiss your ass for life. Talk about free scheduled maintenance for as long as you own the truck. $200-250/month payment for a 2014 4x4 5 speed Tacoma? Yes please. $250/month? That's like half what I pay in gas during the summer for my landscaping.

For $11k, you could get much more truck for your money. That's my entire point. There are nicer ext, cab v6 with similar mileage for less money..

I just bought a 99 single cab with 120k for 3500$. It's dented up but I love the truck. The cool thing is that I like to tinker so I had plenty of money left over to put some Bilsteins on it, radio, and some other creature comforts. The thing with the Toyota is that if you buy that truck and take really good care of it, it could go another 250k miles or more! I know it's nice to have peace of mind but do you really think you'll be driving a standard cab that far? Maybe you will

I love my taco and I drive it everywhere, but if you don't think you're gonna have the truck for at least 10 years or more putting 20k on it a year, maybe look for something with a little higher mileage. Nothing crazy but like 100k is just broken in for these trucks. I'm just saying these days it's nice to have money in the bank. I would really consider whether you need a truck that you can put a ton of miles on (like 200k+) and if you do, buy it! You will love it! If you maybe only plan on keeping it for 5 years or maybe ten years at 10k/yr, look for something with slightly higher miles, and I guarantee you will still love it! People selling these things know what they have, but at the end of the day you may just be paying an extra 5k for a little number on the dashboard ;)

Nicely put. Don't agree with "at 100k, they are just broken in", but to each his own. Kinda like when those guys with diesel trucks for sale that have 350k miles, and they're only asking $12,000. "the 7.3l powerstroke is known to go 500k easy!" lol...maybe but not that transmission...or rear end...or front suspension, or seats, or door hinges, or frame, or anything else on a Ford.

Thanks. Any knowledge I have comes from making mistakes time and time again. Just being broken in at 100k may be a little ambitious, but I've had a few 2.7's and they are pretty awesome if the PO does basic maintenance. at the end of the day I'm really pumped with my dented up truck that drives amazing, and cash in the bank.

And yeah, I like the diesel analogy. People sell these things like they are guaranteed to never give you any problems. You may have a 400k engine, but its surrounded by an average truck (ford, dodge etc… less than average? idk) and that average truck has to tote around an engine and transmission that weigh more than a giants nut sack all day so prepare to be nickel and dimed on ball joints, tie rod ends, leaf springs, bearings on your 20 year old diesel that you just spent 15k on… you know all the fun stuff to repair! ;)

    sorry for rant

Being that i am a tech at Toyota and work on these trucks every day and see the complexity and much wider variety of problems with the new trucks, I'm steering away from them.

I don't want a car payment. I like my freedom of not having to look at price tags when I go out to eat/shop/play ect. I'm looking for a 03-04 tacoma ext cab 4x4 v6. There is a lot if them out there in good condition, I'll just have to be pairing and wait for the right one to come along.

well after looking at 5 or more tacomas i have found nothing but rust, burn holes , dents and non maintained trucks. not to mention hi mileage and everyone wanting over top dollar. seen the single cab still up for sale on ebay and contacted the guy just in time to stop a guy about to drive from Texas to get the truck. i sent a deposit be fore the other guy could and im going to pick her up sunday afternoon.

this is almost like buying a new truck aside from it beeing 10 years old, its going to last me a very long time and do what i need it to. economic , reliable and bc its not power windows and locks there will be less to go wrong.

cant wait till sunday to pick her up and finally own a truck again. no more sitting on the ground, getting stuck in the snow, or worrying about the water beeing to deep after we get bad rain. the mazda will be sitting in the driveway most of the time after sunday. :woot:

You'll like that truck rellik. I have a 02 access cap and while I do like it sometimes I wonder how nice it'd be to have gone smaller yet. 11k might be a little high but I'd pay it with those options.

Post pictures of it when you get it so the rest of us can drool a little. :)

Buy it! I bought my 2004 2.7 Regular Cab with 70,000 miles for around that price in 2010. It is by far the most reliable vehicle I have have ever owned. Also the fact that its basic, its a pro.

Reliability is my number one consern bc I drive 50 miles a day for work and even know I have another car I still want a turn key truck that won't strand me.

It's kbb value was $10,450 but he just put brand new tires on it and a new battery so that covers the over charge. The guy I am buying it from is super cool! I have bailed out twice on him for reasons I couldn't controll and he picked me a third time over others coming half way across the country to buy it bc he knows I work for Toyota and will take care of it. Plus he knew home much I wanted this truck. He got another call from someone on west verginia that wanted to come but he turned them down. Can't wait till Sunday!!! And I will deff post pics!!
