I have been blessed in most always loving the jobs I have had. I can distinctively remember flying in a jet across Wyoming thinking "They pay me for this?!" I was a young VP and absolutely loving my life. Fortunately, I still feel blessed most every single day of my life.

Pick up a copy of "What Color is Your Parchute" you don't have to read the whole thing through but there are some great exercises and great brain food to get you in the right direction.

Also, you can hate him, but I know many that have used many of his tools (myself included)... and have done very well in their lives. Tony Robin's 30 day programs. If you get through his program I guarantee you will be headed in the right direction. If you chose this challenge, let me know, I will give you the CDs and pick up my wheels.

Holy shit I totally forgot I have your wheels. LOL. I stored them at my parents house in Anaheim since my little storage room was running out of space, and I guess out of sight out of mind. Should I bring your wheels to the HB meet? Ive never heard of this Tony Robin character :: opens new tab for google::

Sounds good - as long as I don't head out to NM... I'm still in negotiations... with myself more than Zoom! :(:):D

Im not familiar with schools in your area, and I know its kinda obvious, but check to make sure whatever tech schools/programs you get into are accredited. My brother made this dumb mistake and is now paying the price...

Viet, It sounds like you are motivated and will have a bright future ahead of you. I'm very big supporter of making as many relationships as possible. Talk to anyone and everyone be friendly and work the charm. You would be amazed on the opportunities that you will get by some of the people you meet in random places. One of my favorite books is called The Power of Charm. It talks about how people that can build relationships with others will live great lives. One of my favorite parts talks about how being happy on the outside will force the inside to be happy and positive. Hard to kinda explain. I wish you the best of luck!

A couple of others that I re-read/listen to that are baseline "learn to love life" books: "How to Win Friends and Influence People", "As a Man Thinkith" (can get a free audio book online), "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" - These books can be picked up second hand or if you send me a pm, I will buy them for you and get them delivered to you. And I am serious. I would love to see another brother use some of the good tools that are available to help people succeed!

    Paul,
Thats funny you mention those books. My dad has all of those. He is the one who gave me Rich Dad Poor Dad and The Power of Charm. Those are the only two books I can say I read the whole thing on my own time without someone telling me I had to. I'll swing by the parent's house tomorrow and grab the ones you mentioned.

LOL. I get that. I've always been envious of those who knew from the getgo what they wanted to do with their lives. And then there are those who are fortunate enough to fall into something unexpected and find that they love it. But for a lot of us a job is just the way you pay the bills and little more. I took classes in 17 different disciplines in college, and have had many different "careers". None has particularly rocked my world .. not for long anyway. But as my dad always said, "There's a reason why they call work 'work' and not play." I think there's a lot of wisdom in that.

Do what makes you happy. But think: If you hate school, but what will make you happy requires you to go to school (gf, financial security, etc...) then you have a tough choice. Education is your best weapon (in my own opinion). But also remember that nothing you do right now MUST be permanent. Set your mind to something and follow through with it. I'm going to graduate school because I don't want to settle down and get a 9 to 5 yet and I wanna learn as much as I can. Why not learn more? It will only benefit me somewhere in my life in the future. Who knows when, but i'm sure it will someday :)
