    Any reason you want metal?
    Unless you think something is going to physically break the housing, the metal isn't better.
    The issue is, people think they have to crank the filter housing down TIGHT.
    Not so, the O-ring will NOT seal any better the tighter you get it.
    SNUG is good.....

    I had a thought once of replacing plastic with metal, but after some research decided to stick with the original. Why? Because hundreds of thousands of Toyotas have no issues using them. Perhaps a few will crack because they are over-tightened or because of a mismatched tool; however in those cases I'd say that the same could occur as well with an aluminum housing.

    Same here. My wife's Corolla had the GRP cap and the only time I ever had an issue is when she would get the oil changed at a quick lube type place and they would torque the crap out of it. Snug it till the lock tab will engage and send it!
