The reason I signed up for this forum is to try and find parts for my daughters 2001 stepside Tacoma. It runs and drives just fine. I did a motor rebuild about 2 years ago and I've been driving it as a work truck until about a month ago I decided to give it to my daughter and I'm trying to find body parts for the back end. My mother gave me the truck which did not run about a year before she passed away so it has a lot of sentimental value to my little girl. I would like to fix it up and surprise my daughter with it in a few months since she was so close to her grandmother. Plus I think it's a pretty cool looking little truck. It would be very appreciated if someone could tell me a place to get stepside body parts. Thanks

Welcome aboard. Probably cheaper to have a good body shop Fab new body parts. Stepside 1st. Gen Tacomas were rare when new, 20 year old body parts in decent shape for a rare model? The fleetside and stepside beds are interchangeable for same cabin configurations. Good luck. Ya neva know.

I'm a sheet metal guy. it's the plastic for the step-ups on the side of the bed and the back bumper I'm having trouble finding. Yeah I've had trouble finding a lot of parts for this little truck. Any leads would be helpful and I would like to save the bed if possible. Thanks for your reply.

Welcome to TW. Have a look around, interact with the 1st gen section as much as you can. Do some digging and depending on how much work you are willing to do, welding in new pieces, sand, fill, sand, paint. There are plenty of helpful people, just gotta ask the right questions.

Got ya, thanks I'll probably be asking a whole lot of questions through this process. The sheet metal on the bed is actually in pretty good shape I just need to pop a few dents.

do you have an LKQ corp in your area? they might be able to find some high-quality salvage parts in their nationwide network, you never know!

I actually didn't know about LKQ until you sent me that link. Thank you. There are some quarter panels. Two are within a hundred miles of me so I might take a couple of road trips this weekend to see if they will sell just the step pads or if that quarter panel comes with them it wouldn't hurt to have a few extras. One of them also had I nice bumper on it in the pics. If they still have it this trip might kill two birds with one stone. Also if I can figure out how to do it I'll put a few pictures of the way the truck looks up.

Carparts.com says it has the bumper but when you click into it the description says except stepside. I appreciate the help though. Is LKQ kind of like a Pull-A-Part? I've never been to one. If so that would be pretty nice.

Cool, I'll check out LKQ. I'll also check out the buy sell and trade after I get off the 50 post probation. Wow I've gotten more leads in the past two days then I have in the last month looking for parts.

You can buy with less than 50 posts. Its selling that needs 50.

LKQ also ships nationwide. So if you find something in CA it can be shipped to your door, or the the regional office. I use LKQ for car parts all the time.
