    Going by you diagram.

Purple looks like it would connect to the dash lights (the ones that come on with the head lights)

    Black looks like a Ground.

I’d bet my lunch money that a harness made for a FJ Cruiser won’t plug and play with a Taco.

The wire looks black to me? The crimp is red. Is this what you are asking about?
And it looks like it goes back to the switch, the only black wire to the switch is Ground in your diagram.

Has anyone compared the pinout from the FJ switch to our Gen 2 Tacoma fog light switches? It looks like pin 1/4 and then pin 6 could be showing that the normal panel illumination (6) and the "on" indicator (1 or 4) could be plug-and-play. That would be a nice bit of luck.

The Tacoma uses a 4 pin plug.
The FJ uses a 6 pin.
Like @Muddinfun said, they won’t work with each other.

I had an FJ switch on my 2013, worked fine with backlighting tied to my instrument panel and the LED indicator light. It does work.

I did neither, mine didn’t come pre-wired for fogs so I had to start from nothing. Toyota of McDonough used to sell the 2nd gen Tacoma OEM install kit and it came with an FJ switch. Only thing I tapped was for the backlight and LED indicator, IIRC.

This was in June 2013 or so, so I don’t recall intimate detail. @tacomgee helped me install. We didn’t de-pin or modify the OEM harness.

At one point I had the whole install documented with pics but that was in a thread that is no longer viewable.
