Need Help Getting New 2.7 Long Block Started

I have the installation of the new long block complete. It turns over great has spark and it will sputter every once in awhile, but won't start.

My guess is that the fuel isn't making it to the combustion chamber. I was thinking there might be some sort of fuel shutoff that has happened due to having the fuel system open. Maybe, there is a safety fuel shutoff that has occurred.

I thought I could just plug everything up and the fuel would bleed out as the injectors fired. But after several attempts, the engine has not started. This is a 99 Tacoma 4x4.

Can someone give me suggestions on what to do?

 

I don't hear the fuel Pump when I turn the key on.

 

It looks like the fuel pump circuit is only energized while the engine is cranking or while the engine is running. No wonder I can't hear it running! It will be almost impossible to hear if it is running while I am cranking the engine.

I'm going to keep researching. Looks like I have to answer my own post. No one else has had any input.

 

Found the problem! I missed plugging up something. It was on the back of the head at the firewall. I don't what it is and a can't find a name for it. It has a hose connected to it and is triangle in shape and has an electrical plug.

Now if I can just fix the fast idle
