I just recently found a nail in my ProComp All Terrain 265/75/16 right rear tire. The nail is close to the tire wall, so it can't be repaired. What I am wondering, is if I can run another brand all terrain tire that roughly matches the same tread. Can it be done? Which tire would be the best option? I'm not willing to go all out. Just need a tire that will get the job done. The reason I'm not replacing it with the same tire is because I don't want to order it and shops in my city don't carry that particular tire.

Just pick one. It'll be fine as long as it's the same size. Even better if the same load range.

Some guy at a shop told me I should keep the same brand tire on each axil, which means I would have to replace the back left as well. I figured he just wanted to get some more money, but is there truth to his statement?

I figured he would, what do you think would be the best tire that would match the procomp treads? BFG All Terrain?

A General Grabber AT 2 looks closer to what you have than a BFG, IMO.

You cant find one to match?
I personally wouldn't mix. They may wear at different rates and if you ever get new tires and want to sell the others, no one will buy 3 of one type and 1 single.

They can't order it today and have it in the morning? Around here they have always had my tires the next morning by 10 when I needed one or a set.

No one has the tire in Baton Rouge. It will be more expensive to order it and then mount. I'm not worried about selling them in the future because I will more than likely ride my tires till their death.

My shop charges the same whether they order it or have it in stock. Most come out of Atlanta around here. That's 90 miles away. I wouldn't expect most shops to have all terrain or mud tires in stock. Here only Sam's club would have one in stock.

You don't have a 4 Wheel Parts in your area? They can have one sent to their store for you to pick up.

I originally got them from 4wheelparts online. I just checked the website and it seems they don't carry the 265/75/16 anymore.

I appreciate the help, but it still brings me back to my original question. Will I face any problems by mounting a 4th different tire? IYO, what should I mount as a serviceable all terrain tire. NOT looking for anything top notch.

    No, it will be fine.

Only question would be how many miles are on your current tires and how worn down they are. If a lot and once they're rotated to the front, you might experience a slight pull to the side where the worn tire is.

    Discount tire direct.

That being said, match the size and the load range and get a similar tire and run it.

Back in the old days before ABS, you'd invite problems by mixing tires, because different brand and age tires will lock up at different times - inviting an assymetric skid sending you out of control in a panic braking situation.

ABS kinda renders this concern moot.
