I am new to this forum.

While driving I hear I pitch whining.

I put in in neutral an coast the noise goes away or lessens that I cannot hear.

What could universal joints, or drive shaft center bushing/ bearing?

    Thank you for the suggestions.

A whine on acceleration would have me inspecting the rear end.
Not saying it is, but the words “whine, coast, neutral,” are indicative of rear end symptoms.

But not knowing where the sound is “coming from” doesn’t help.

Do you have any idea where it sounds like it is originating from?

Maybe water pump? that would be engine RPM dependent. see if the noise is front or back of vehicle. could also be serpentine belt idler pulleys.

The noise is coming from the rear.

Check oil level in the diff. Good level and clear..

I tried moving the drive shaft to check universal joints and the center driveshaft bearing.

    Back Wheel bearing orc transmission.?

I will check the trans oil this weekend. My scan gage tells me the trans temp is in range and no warning on the trans or engine. Engine temp is in range.

Liftrd the hood. Had my wife raise the rpms so slowly from 900 to 4000. Heard nothing unusual. No wining noise.

I put in neutral and coast. No noise. When put in drive and give gas, increase rpm the whining get loader, not screaming.

Please help. I am dumb founded about this.

How to check if a wheel bearing(s) is bad or drive shaft bearing is bad (looks new). Bought the truck in 2022. It has now 175,000 miles on it.

    Suggestions are welcomed.

    Thank you so much.

so the noise is noticeable and steady under load and is coming from the rear of the vehicle. My guess is center carrier bearing, one of the u-joints is going bad or you have some issue in the diff.

Lift the rear off the ground, run the wheels up to speed and listen with a stethoscope. Listen around the differential, the wheel bearings and the driveshaft center bearing

Just had the universal joints and center carrier replaced. Still some noise.

Still need to listen around with a stethoscope. Just because the parts are new doesn't mean they aren't making noise
