What's up TW! So I am new to the Tacoma seen finally got one I liked 03 and I want to go with a bigger tire set up 285s. I am new to lifting a Truck.. now I been reading about OME set up and just trying to make sure I buy the right stuff and not have issues. My truck is a 4x4 and also i will be getting wheels and tires off my friend F5s 285/75/17s Goodyear Duratec tires. I just want to make sure they fit right. My main concern is what kit do I go with, I do some trail riding but nothing extreme as the truck is prestine only 50k miles! I want to just make sure I buy everything I need, do I need a Diff drop etc.. thank you!

Another thing, I currently have 16s TRD beadlock wheels and was thinking lift and just bigger tires on those wheels. I am not worried about Gas mileage. I can get the F5s for a good deal new tires.. only reason I was considering them instead.
    Thanks!

    I second @Clearwater Bill

Also, a diff drop is cheap and will help to save the angle on your cv's so you might as well get one.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Fun fact: the first number in tire specs is actually width. It's kinda weird but it reads like width(in mm)x% of that width (in mm, convert this to inches)*2+inches of wheel

    285/75R16 is 285mm or 11.25 inches (approx, 25.4mm/In)
11.25*.75=8.4375in (this is basically saying 75% of the width in tire sidewall)
    8.4375+16" (wheel diameter) = 24.4375

BUT WAIT DIGITALBRAVO, you say, THAT ISN'T THE DIAMETER OF THE TIRE

That 8.4375" of sidewall is half the tire ;-)

(8.4375)*2+16" = 32.875" for a rounded up 33"x11.25" on 16" wheels. (especially after tread as the carcass/belt is usually the measure point?)

I only mention this 'cause apparently this shit is fucking chinese for some folks around here...

Hopefully the mods don't ban me for being helpful like they did when I got insulted last time

He wrote 17 inch rim, so 285/75/17s is 34"x11.25" on 17" wheels. Will it even fit?

I've got 285/70r17's w/ no rubbing. You might need 1.25" wheel spacers or 3.5" backspaced wheels. 75's will be one less than inch increase in diameter, so less than 1/2" in the wheel well.

Damm that looks good! I'm pumped to get them on they are 3.5 back spacing came off my buddies 4 runner. And are you on a 3" lift as well? And what set up for suspension if you don't mind my truck is a extended cab as well.

I'm not sure - the previous owner had an arb bumper on the front and a swingout tire carrier on the back with full skids and I think it was lifted around 3" before I took all that stuff off in this pic, but it's hard to say for sure because I don't have anything to reference it by.
