So I have been having an issue with my OME 3in lift. When I go over a bump like a speed bump, as soon as I am on the down side of the bump it feels like the front suspension just drops down to full droop and I hear a loud thud, like it bottoms out the shock or something. For a while I could not seem to figure out what is going on until "ktmrider" suggested that maybe the coils were assembled wrong. After looking at it more closely it appears that they are, (see below). You think Midas would be better than this.

P.S. I had planned on assembling them myself but no place in twon rented a compressor that was large enough for these coils.

So which side is assembeled correctly? I have labeled the pictures with a D and P.

Thanks for all the help! Now I get to complain to the manager and tell him he needs to fix this for free, yay! I bet that will go over smooth.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
It don't look wrong from the pics what coils do you have? Do you have a lot of extra weight in the front?

What coils are you running? Assembly looks ok as far as I can tell.

I don't know if it holds true for the OMEs, but the factory springs are installed with the bottom ends of the springs oriented towards the rear of the vehicle.

I assembled my Bilsteins using the attached diagram from the 06 FSM. If the OMEs are typically installed as indicated by the diagram, it means that your driver's side spring is 180 deg. off. But again, I have no knowledge of the correct installation of the OMEs, or if reorienting the spring would make a difference.

One of the coils has the flat part towards the top and the other has it towards the bottom. I forget which way is correct.

EDIT: Actually they look ok, maybe just oriented wrong like previously stated

Double check all your sway bar bushings, and endlinks.

    make sure everything is torqued....

    3 top plate bolts
    castle nut on ball joint
they may have loosened stuff on the LCA
    Bottom strut bolt
and they probably removed at least the sway bar end links to make room

Check the sway bar first, I've seen that happen before.

No sway bar, removed it long time ago, but I'll check all the specs again just to be sure. but i pretty confident all is in place to specs, i'm pretty anal about that stuff.

I know exactly the noise ... I have the same one. I have only had my OME885's in for a week and the noise happens on the backside of speedbumps, but only when I'm going in, say, 2nd gear at very low RPMs. If I slow down enough it seems okay. I also assumed it was the shock bottoming out. I have TC UCA's and I'm quite sure they're not topping out so it's gotta be the shock.

I've had to go away for work for about a month and a half now so I thought it might have a bit of settling time on the springs and I'd see if it was as stiff when I got back. I can't say I'm too worried about it because it only happens on speed bumps. So I'd say just slow down on speed bumps ... that's what they're there for and all!

Nonetheless, if anyone has researched into this and found out what's going on I would be interested to hear...

I have ome 886s and it makes that loud noise when one of the front wheels drops into a hole at full droop. my 1st gen also did the same thing. have never had anything break YET. I only get it when the susp quickly tops out not when the susp is stuffed in the wheelwell

could also be, depending on how new the install it, the springs seating. That should go away after a couple times though.

for me its been 2 months and it has not gone away, i guess its good to hear that other people have the same issue, but still, that shouldn't be happening....

I have the LR uca's and am pretty convinced its not them.

I'm considering moving to 5100's i heard they have more travel but i'm not sure that would solve the problem.

Did anyone ever figure out what this noise is? I just installed the OME lift with 886s and have the same problem. I have an ARB bumper and am hoping that the springs will settle in a little over time and give the front end a little more flex. Is there a noticeable difference in the ride after the springs break in? How long does it take? I'm new to this.
