Surprisingly, the last set of Michelin tires I had on my sequoia were replaced because of moderate sidewall cracking on all 4. I think they were the mxv4 and I wanna say I had them for like 3-4 yrs and they had around 5mm of the tread left.
I replaced them with defenders because Michelin gave me 25% off for customer satisfaction.
My moms Michelin tires on her car are the mxv4 and they have moderate sidewall cracking too. They are probably 5 yrs old though

Supposedly Michelin is known for dry rot after 3-5 years. This is what my local tire dealer told me anyway. BFG is the same on cracking/dry rot. My last 3 sets of BFG have developed cracks.

they come from the factory with the white lettering if you want blackwall u tell the installer to put the blackwall out. usually the price is pretty standard across the board wherever u go, I would suggest going to a big box store like COSTCO or BJs Wholesale, if u get a cost estimate that's good most other Tire shops will match it. Also be on the lookout for a Labor Day sale probably get a deal somewhere.

my Michelin M/S and AT2 tires had some drying and cracking after many years but it never effected the tires ability in performance or holding the air PSI in the tires. all you can really do is apply a tire dressing that will slow down the rubber cracking a little. also the Michelins last almost twice as long as any other tires so everybody is allowed some wrinkles as we age with the tires.

my big question is if Michelin LTX defenders all season is the best tire money can buy, what would the runner up be? who comes in 2nd place in the all season truck tire category?

I ran BFG on almost all my rigs for years. This last time put some Cooper At3 on my taco. They have great wet traction on pavement, and look good. They have about 20k in them now, still look good. Been very pleased with them overall, I don’t off-road really either, just the occasional logging Road when hunting. Snow traction this past winter was excellent. Good luck with your choice

Michelin LTX/MS Defenders. Examine the tires before installation, look at the manufacture date, make sure all match.
