Like the title states, I am in the process of doing my head gasket on my 2rzfe and I have taken everything off of the motor in terms of harness, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, etc.

I haven’t started doing anything to take the head itself off yet. I just wanted to find a guide to do it properly without messing things up like the timing, timing chain, etc.
I’ve done all the work up until this point so I can save myself the money and headache of waiting on a shop. I will have everything else done at a machine shop resurface the head and have a tech inspect the head and block.

I just wanna find a guide on taking the head off of the block probably. Thanks

    Clock Volt meter/LSPV Delete/Hyundai 16’s/FP gauge/after 9months of wrenching ZERO oil leaks
Start by taking T chain cover off next
To accomplish this, oil pan needs to be removed

as far as how to’s plenty of vids out there

as far as tech tips, mech friend of mine always zip ties the T sprocket to the T chain several areas to make sure installation is the same
    Big Job.
Book time is 9.8hrs for T cover alone
    Ask me how I know….took 4days

look up starter bump method to remove crank shaft bolt too!

Im having slot of trouble installing the service bolt onto the exhaust gear. It’s not lining up and it’s very frustrating. I left it at that for the day. I followed rhe FSMand watched countless YouTube videos but I see they hve no issue with this.

I don’t wanna F* this up since I need my taco running asap. Then again i do not wanna get desperate and really complicate things by making it very expensive on myself breaking or cracking the head.

FSM was a bit vague on the procedure but then again it could be me. Anything helps big time. Thank you guys so much!!

Update: i ended up taking the exhaust cam without the service bolt in the cam gear as nothing I did could align it. I got the head off without any issues by following the FSM.

next step is cleaning the gasket material and learning on what signs of wear and/or damage to look for before starting the head gasket job and sending it to a machine shop.

since I popped off the oil pan would I have a somewhat decent/reliable way to check the piston rods from the bottom of the block where the oil pan was?
