I'll probably keep the 33's with IFS

If (big if) I were to SAS I may go 35's

It's the "pieced together" parts that matter...custom fab ain't cheap unless you do it yourself, and then you gotta price your time.

And you'd want that fab done *right*, otherwise you run into some serious potential issues at highway speeds.

Plenty of guys running 35s on 1st gen IFS. Hell, it's easier...lighter truck with less engine power, and because you're smaller you get more clearance gains out of a 35 than us 2genners do.

As long as you wheeled with 'finesse' I think you'd have no trouble :D

If you're gonna bother to SAS, go big...get that bitch on at least 38s.

We can drive 35 around here

I talked to the owner of Carolina Truggies in Matthews, NC. He seems like a knowledagble guy. Check him out if you decide to go SAS.

we have had this conversation more that a few times at work haha. i say leave it. Put the nice Icon UCA's under it, and drive the wheels off of it. Chances truck is a good deal, and it would be nice to have a second vehicle if one decides to be stubborn

Thats what I was thinking. And it will be easy to get new tundra CVs instead of custom ones for the 2nd gens. (front locker)

The guy that built my bumpers, skids, etc... said that he could cut me a hell of a deal on it, all I have to do is supply parts and he would cut the labor down as long as I let him take it to some of the shows that he goes to... gotta love advertisement

    hell why not 42's? :D

I've been on a two-vehicle system for a while now, and let me tell you I will never again own just one vehicle. I don't think people know how strong your argument is until they've been there.

That might save you some ching then...but I'd still budget at least $8k before all the kinks are ironed out.

Fine by me. Just get ready to take the fenders off :D

I know, it would be nice to have a back up, but gah... a SAS would be pretty nice...

I don't know, prolly just going to sit on the money for now... I like watching the bank account

i give it two weeks, that plan will change hahaha only joking. SAS would be nice indeed, but i don't believe it is 3k dollars + nice. not counting your truck would be down for 2-3 weeks. and the only problem i see with SAS is that it will kill the resale on the truck. bc the average person will not want a SAS truck, you would have to find one of us sickly addicted tacomaworld members to buy something that has been pieced together

Schweet, I know where a 83 short bed is for a fair price but needs some work. Seems like the long bed wheelbase would be better though. :notsure:

This one is in pretty good shape... he's put a lot of work into it. Now I just have to pin him down on a price...

True, but you know I could never sell this damn truck... I get attached, unlike some people who get a different truck b/c they get a different girlfriend :D

Got a retirement fund started yet? That'd be a good place for it to sit while you wait. A Roth IRA is a particularly good option, because you can take your direct contributions back out whenever you want like a savings account. No penalties, no limits, no age requirement.

Have your money earn you some money while you're not using it :)

This is kind of where I am...spend 8+ thousand on an SAS or spend 8+ thousand on an already-built trail rig that you can roll/break and otherwise DGAF...hmmm.

Fuck it, bed's getting replaced by toob and all the frame past the spring shackles is getting cut off anyway...

    ...

    ...

    Right?
