    Need help/advice.

    I have a 2001 Taco.

I'm currently doing a Prerunner to 4x4 swap. Took out the transmission from my Prerunner and compared all the harness connection to the 4x4 transmission. This donor trans came from a 98 4runner.

All harness connections are good exept one, the big connection on the passenger side; looks like the "main" connector. My harness and connection is completely different from the 4x4 trans.

Is it possible to simply "swap" out the harness end from my Prerunner into the 4x4 donor trans?

Will there be any "issues" such as CEL because I have a 4x4 trans but a harness that works with the Prerunner?

    Thank you all.

Personally, I think you should be able to swap the one from the Newer tranny, to the doner tranny.

Can you remove the PNP switch and install it on the older tranny? It should mount right up.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You should be able to just swap the switches for the one you need for the pre.
