The other repair you might want to do is the sealant on the coolant bypass, its in the rebuild section of the FSM I think. You need a special coolant FIPG at ~$50 a tube although I found posts that say normal FIPG is fine. Mine looked like it was about to leak. The mating surface on the block was corroded so I hit it with 400 grit sandpaper until I saw shiny metal.

The only special tool I needed was a 1/2" drive, 12 point 12mm socket. Get a quality one because tremendous torque on this.

Also above when I say missing parts I don't mean that Yotashop forgot to include them, I think I saw somewhere that they dont include exhaust mani gasket because FSM says remove heads w/o removing exhaust mani - really?

The Toyota exhaust mani gaskets cost almost as much as the head gaskets so I used the Yotashop gaskets, was still a high quality multi layer. I guess the mani gaskets are fairly critical, I read that many Dodge engines pop the studs because of expansion/contraction so there needs to be quite a bit of give there.

    that is a good kit.
Your going to need a few other odd tools depending on what’s actually going on. But you’ll need to check for warping regardless those MLS gaskets are less forgiving. The older Tacomas used a composite that would work and is more forgiving. I used the MLS tho and so far it’s good. I’d watch the video series and see if you would want to take on that project.
