Do I smell a sniff sniff part out? I would either remove the lift or just part the truck out, judging by the rust on the front end, the frame can't be doing too hot either =(

If you picked it up for 3k and it has all that new stuff, it’s worth another 2k to overhaul your suspension. Probably will give you years of enjoyment rather than heartache if you bite the bullet now.

Now I'm super curious, I haven't heard of these lifts before. What's the scoop?

From what I know. When these trucks first came out people wanted a lift trailmaster was the one with 6 inch.. it would cause a bunch of problems like no more upper control arm.. best is to start looking for stock components Or another lift like 3inch.

So thats an old version of trail master?cause I cant find anything that looks like this .Ok so my trying to weigh my options here. A - pop the strut back into place and try and find a mount for it also replace the regular struts. B- try and find a different lift kit and have a garage do custom modifications . C pop the strut back in and put it on Craigslist for 3k or best offer for the next sucker .

I'll be honest I'd probably try to dump it, even if you take a few hundred dollar loss you are probably spending less than you would undoing that mess, call it a lesson learned (don't buy modded trucks), and then save up a bit more cash for a stock/better truck when able.

But I've never dealt with that type of lift before so maybe it's not as bad as it looks, idk, get a few more opinions for sure.

I believe the consensus is that replacement parts are extremely rare. And that trailmaster kit was never good news “poorly engineered”. If you are dead set on keeping it, you might try to find a totaled out truck for parts and try to get yours back to stock suspension.

P.S. if you are going to dump it, be honest with the next buyer...

I remember seeing that Trailmaster lift before where you have to get Mcpherson struts off of a Volkswagen. No UCA’s. But as you guys said, it has other problems too. I used the search bar and here is a post from @Digiratus

Good luck. Whichever way you decide to go.

    It needs a what?

I read through the posts and I’m no expert but I think you need to get back to square one and for from there. The pics look like it’s a frankenlift from the bowels of hell.

It might be just that . thanks for the input guys . it needs both of those shock abosbers And mounts. I guess you can get them from a 91 VW rabbit ? So to go back to stock suspension could I just hook a regular control arm up ? I might spend up to 500 getting it done but over a 1000 might be too much .

Yea I’m pretty sure it requires some reverse fabrication. I wouldn’t wanna do it myself that’s for sure.

Ok so what about keeping the shotty shock absorbers and just changing the regular struts that could work right . I know it won't ride like a 2019 tacoma .
