Need help tunning a 3RZFE motor w/ a GT3071R turbo replica

    Rear FJ Cruiser Disc Brakes, Front Tundra Brakes, Heated 4Runner Mirrors, 2018 Tacoma OEM 18" Wheels
    I only have 7 pounds of boost, but I do have a blow off valve , external wastegate and front mounted intercooler with a 3” exhaust. Need to know what is the best and most likely the cheapest way to tune this motor.

    I was told the only way is with a Haltech standalone ECU , but I have seen people with these motors working fine without one, how are they doing this ?

    Definitely need to upgrade that to a higher flow one.

    Then, if your fuel pressure regulator is still functionally good, I would run a vacuum hose from after the throttle body to the fuel pressure regulator.

    That will increase the fuel pressure when you are in boost, giving more fuel.

    In the days of old, before regular and good tuning, most people would upgrade to a "pink top" set of injectors. Then they would call it good.

    That is sketchy at best. If you have a OEM pump, I can only assume that it is the original one. That is old, and small. Which could also mean that the fuel filter needs to be changed as well.

    Hopefully you have at minimum an AFR gauge?

    @Speedytech7 knows this route with the Haltech. It has performed extremely well under it quality tune. @2RZNoShi1

    Get this thing on Haltech and you will not be disappointed. It will start, drive, and act like OEM or better, and allow you to get the most out of your engine!

    Halltech or comparable. You will chase drivability and starting issues forever if you don't. Also a good set of gauges.

    First thing's first, get it enough fuel. You need larger injectors and fuel pump.
    AFR monitoring is a must, though if you get a Haltech you can do it that way with a WB1 add on.

    Due to the way the open/closed loop system works on these, it really is best to get a standalone ECU like a Haltech.

    Absolute cheapest way would be to make a boost=WOT trigger for open loop, then you can see how much the ECU adjusts (or doesn't) for your boost based on measured MAF, and add fuel from there by various means

    Wow, so much information ! Yes I have a AEM AFR and the truck already had the “PINK” injectors, soooo in short the best way would be the HALTECH ? The pump is brand new OEM it’s been on the truck for about 8 months with a new filter. As for the pump which one would do the job? The PCV was upgraded to the oil catch can valve cover vent mod, works perfectly ! The spark plugs are NGK iridium set. The Haltech route sound like the bullet proof way to go! I would need someone in the Tri-State area since I am in NY, I need a list of MUST get items and model numbers , name brands , or version, THANK YOU

    I went with an Aeromotive 340lph at @Speedytech7 's recommendation and it is much quieter than the Walbro I initially had. You don't need that much flow, but it doesn't cost much for peace of mind.

    That is not such a simple question. How old is your current one? Can its diaphragm handle being boost referenced? Do you want to add a mechanical gauge to your OEM setup? What does that entail? If you add an aftermarket adjustable FPR, are you ready to change fuel lines to fit.

    If you do add an aftermarket FPR, you can add a mechanical gauge for setting it up, and knowing that it is hitting the proper target PSI, as well as you can have the option of also adding in a sensor for the Haltech.

    In my opinion, since you have gone this far, it is a worthy addition.
