Absolutely! Crutchfield is the way to go. On every other vehicle they are the way i went. This time i relly wanted way more than i could have done myself (second battery and isolator, custom box and amp rack) i suppose i could have done it but the place i had it installed had 4 guys working on it for 3 1/2 days. would have taken me a month:eek:

Ubscribing. I have a 2012 access cab and am anxious to replace my headliner speakers. Not sure how to get to them or what I can replace them with. So all access cabs 09 - 12 are the same?

I belive 09-12 access cabs have the same audio setup. I already unplugged the speakers in my headliner. I plan on cutting my rear door panels to install rears, only reason i havnt done it yet is because i am very happy with the sound im getting with a amp, front components and a 8 inch shallow mount sub. Another option would be to get your hands on some rear access cab door panels from an 05-08 and swap them because they have rear speakers. ive read on this site that they interchangable. My 09 still has the speaker mounts in the access cab doors, so toyota didnt change the doors the just changed the panels.

I just upgraded my 2010 access cab to a Pioneer AVH P3200 BT, four Infinity Kappa speakers, two Infinity Reference tweeters, Infinity Kappa five channel amp, and Kicker 10" sub in a box by Subthump. Total all in was $2100.00 installed. Amazing sound!
Just the speakers was $750.00, quite a difference.

Did you have the installers cut the rear door panels? Or where are they mounted? Pics? Your setup sounds amazing

Sorry I forgot. I had the HU from earlier, so add about $650.00 to that total.

Nice i would like to see that, i dont think ive been able to find anyone on here who has done it. Would you say adding the rears made a big differnce? I guess you did everything at once so you could only compare to the stock setup and changing anything on the stock setup makes a big difference haha

how do you like that sub box? i would really like to see how your setup sounds, so if youre driving thru ct on 95 anytime hit me up haha. i didnt wanna pay for a custom sub box and i wanted to keep it hidden so i made my own, but i could only fit a 8 inch shallow mount rockford fosgate, heres mine.

Where did you go to get this? $750 seems rather high for Infinity Kappa speakers.

I had four speakers and two tweeters installed first, before I got the amp and sub.
    $209.00 for two front speakers
    $149.00 for two rear speakers
    $109.00 for two Reference tweeters
    $7.80 wire kit
    $100.00 front speaker install
    $100.00 rear speaker install
    $75.00 tweeter install
    $29.86 tax
    -------------------------
    $782.63

    JDK Auto sound and security
A little pricey but very very high quality work. I did the speakers a couple weeks before the sub and amp. Two was not as good as four, but I felt like I needed more so I lost the factory sub and went with a 10", along with 1200 watts.

Ok, what if I buy the speakers and amp online and have Best Buy install?

lol i would not have best buy install. if you were local to me i would be able to direct you to many stereo system installers. best buy doesn't "specialize" in installation or have a strong knowledge of that stuff. they only specialize in selling you a product and receiving cash.

go to a stereo shop and make sure they don't loose any screws or push pin tabs. i choose a shops with managers as well as workers who speak english and are fairly busy. if you don't already have this, you should get an alarm installed at the same time since everything will be taken apart already save $ on labor.

If you are going to have best buy do the install you might as well buy everything there, i guess i just personally wouldnt do that, but its your truck and your money. If i were to upgrade a sound system and didnt want to do the work myself i would bring it to a local car audio shop. I just wouldnt want some kid that works for bestbuy hacking up my truck, who knows what your ganna get, the installer might be really good or he might suck and break clips, leave wires unplugged and not be able to troubleshoot any issues with the sound system. I believe they use geeksquad correct? These guys are suposed to be tech guys and im sure they have lots of knowledge but they are kinda jack of all trades master of none tech guys. Just know that installing an amp requires running a main power wire from your battery, through the firewall, hide it all the way to the amp. They will most likely have to take your seat out if thats where the amp is going, they might have to cut the carpet, they might hafta drill through your firewall. For me at least, if anyone is ganna hack up my truck its ganna be me, if i am not capable of doing the work myself i am going to bring it to a profesional that specializes in the kind of work that needs to be done. You will probably have to pay more at a car audio place compared to best buy but you know you will end up with quality work, best buy they might do a good job they might not. You dont hafta listen to me tho, i have never had bestbuy install something for me i have just heard people that were not happy with stereo systems done by bestbuy

From the sounds of what you want i still think you should just buy a headunit and new speakers and do the install yourself, its really not difficult and youll enjoy the end product more if you do it yourself. Installing a amp is a pretty big project if you dont have any knowledge or experience but anyone can do it if they put the time in to research. Plus its just nice to learn how to take apart your truck and put it back together haha.
