Need help wiring rock/courtesy lights to cab switch

Violet (9), not Blue, since you are adding an additional switch.

That would be personal preference and how and where you tie all the lights to the relay.

Just shoot him a PM with what you're trying to accomplish, and he can provide a plug and play solution for you. Similiar to the item you posted, it plugs into the back of the cargo lamp switch, and the factory harness plugs into the other side of it; then if I remember correctly, theres a single ground wire to ground somewhere, a relay, and all you'll need to do is connect your single power lead (+) from your rock lights to the supplied and labeled relay wire (+). He essentially does all the hard work of all of the pinning/connectors/relay/etc thats described earlier in the thread and gives you a plug and play solution. It does exactly what you're describing (on/off with cargo lamp - door open/close/lock/unlock).

 

so to be clear, if I want the rock/puddle lights to function off of the cargo switch (come on with unlock, off with doors closed) but still be able to use an idependent switch to turn rock/puddle lights on if doors are closed than I need the switch to tap into the purple wire on the cargo switch harness instead of the blue if I wasnt using a switch?

If i were to use a switch like a ch4x4 where do all the wires go to from the switch? like which one goes to the purple wire on the cargo harness, which one to the relay? do I tap into the green and/or the tan wires on the cargo switch to illuminate the new switch?

 

Correct. You are completing the circuit (switching the ground side) of the added circuit.

As I've stated before, you'll require a switch with independent illumination. The CH4x4 will not do.
Green (+) Beige (-) switch illumination.

 

So if i use a 3 wire switch with no Illumination, one wire to the purple wire on the cargo harness, one wire to ground, and one wire to the relay? Sorry if i sound confused

 

Correct, common one to relay coil.

 

Are you saying the same wire that goes to the purple wire will also go to the relay or the 3rd wire on the switch goes to the relay?

 

On/Off/On switch.
On (Door) Purple
On White with Black (or your choice of color) to ground.
Switch common (center) from relay coil pin 85.

OK. Late to the party here, but I have a question.

I purchased the Universal DSIM kit because they don't make a Plug & Play version for my 2-Gen.

This is the wiring diagram on how to install it. Note that the yellow wire is supposed to connect to the Rock Light Relay. The problem is, it does not say which pin on the Rock Light Relay.

Any thoughts?
