Okay so I have a 1990 22re and all of a sudden it dies after driving on the highway or at high rpms for a brief moment. No check engine lights are on or anything however it does have a really rough idle. After it dies it will fire right back up. Anyone ever have this issue before??

My guess would be a loose connection some place . A relay or fuse loose in the socket

Check your coil and spark plug wires.

    The grounds and battery terminals

Would that also be causing the rough idle?

With these engines just up grading the ground cables has smoothed out the idle.

The ground for the ECU goes into the aluminum intake manifold these can get corroded or time.

over the years I had a few of these engines that ran so much better using Toyota spark plug wires.

just dealed with an afm that contributed to this.

just you can check the voltage coming thru most of your sensors and what not. weak ignitors contribute.

be glad its not a 3.0...:cookiemonster:
