    Hi,

My new to me 3rd gen Taco's touch screen radio started acting up today. When I crank my truck the radio starts beep like I'm touching buttons which I'm not and the screen starts changing like I'm pushing buttons. When this happens I can't control anything on it. Is there a quick fix or software update anyone nows about? Thanks

    Rinnie

No sir, I even wiped the screen off in case I had too many fingerprints on it. Didn't matter.

Either an update through a dealer or the more complex the headunit, the faster they crap out it seems. I’ll explain…
-worldwide chip shortage has led to inferior product shipped out. You have 1 of 3 issues, or a mix.
1 - bad U/X chip in the headunit that, under heat cycles, fails.
2 - bad pin solders on the chip. You could, theoretically, tear the headunit down to boards and ribbon cables, de-solder then re-solder every connection, and rebuild it.
3 - failed thermal paste on the amp chip, causing electrical gremlins to commence.

If it’s under the 3-year warranty, try to get it replaced. Just remember, same chip shortage means a delay in replacement part. If it’s out of warranty, hit up www.Crutchfield.com , it’s time to upgrade anyways.

It seems to have fixed itself today. It's been raining alot so maybe the humidity had something to do with it. Fingers crossed
