20170516_123457.jpg 20170513_192530.jpg I just bought this 1996 Tacoma, I got it pretty cheap, knowing that it needed some work, including the front end suspension lift. Problem is now that I have it home and got a good look at the suspension, I have no idea of what kind of lift kit they originally installed. The kid I bought it from had no clue, he didn't know much about anything on the truck. I'm guessing it's a 6 inch lift kit that was installed back in the late 90's or early 2000's , I have never seen anything like it, and have realized how bad it's worn out. I'm going to post some pictures of the front lift, in hopes that someone can recognize what the heck it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! 20170513_192530.jpg

Oh no, a ridiculous spacer lift... :crapstorm:

Replace that with a legitimate lift as fast as you can. I already have an idea of what the front looks like.

I thought it was a shock also, but it was something designed to extend the steering knuckle up to that tower......... honestly I'm completely lost, it makes no sense, and actually wouldn't really care that much, as I was just planning on using the Tacoma as something to drive around other than my big dually all the time. But the problem is that where the "shock" looking thing is connected to the top "tower thing" , has worn out the bushing and is free to move around. Honestly, I really don't know, please don't give me too hard of a time, I probably should have passed on the truck, but I didn't, so now I'm just trying to see if I can replace the bushing at the top on both sides, and get by for awhile or someway fabricate something that will keep it from moving around. I don't plan on taking it out wheeling, and really don't want to throw thousands into this truck. Possibly straight axle it, but like I said I really can't be throwing thousands into it. If I only knew who made this lift kit, I might be able to find the top bushing plate. I'm going to take it to my local 4x4 shop and see if any of the old timers know what the ..... it is. Or have a temporary fix. I know you guys are laughing at me right now, I probably would be too. Oh well, I'm the sucker today. Just looking for any suggestions or help. Thanks again!
