It’s a fairly simple problem. I have the original anytime backup camera that’s working perfectly (with front cam too). I even recently bought his dual rocker switch to mount in another location and clean up my switches. After a recent weekend camping trip with a rental trailer, I decided I’m going to put another camera on the rear of the trailer we’ll be buying. What I want to do now is have a switch that will switch between the two rear cameras. I also bought the anytime backup camera module that uses the steering wheel, so that may be going in.

I tested the continuity on that switch and can find two pins that go continuous to a single common pin when switched to the two camera options. Depends on which camera is selected. All other pin combos are either open or 1-3 volt drop so probably the lights.

What I really need is an oem plug that simply switches RCA... pretty sure those don’t exist.

Any thoughts anyone? Open to novel solutions but am looking to keep the OEM look.

Well that’s a thought I suppose. That would save me the trouble of running signal all the way to the cab. Appreciate the idea.

<edit>. Now that I think about it, doing some sort of manual switch at the tail end may be the more elegant solution. It loses the option for either camera selection, but it’s definitely less work.

Not sure what / how your particular kit is working, but what you want is super simple to do with two SP/DT switches. This is how you can do it, hopefully it’ll give you an idea of how to splice it into your particular setup. The RCA video signed is simply a ground and positive, connect the ground together from all the cameras, along with the video ground to the head unit. Then take positive from camera1 to NO on switch1, positive from camera2 to NC on switch1. Common on switch1 to NO on switch2, positive from camera3 to NC on switch2, common on switch2 to video in (positive) on headunit.

Those 2 switches will do the video for all 3 cameras. If camera3 is OEM and camera2 front, camera1 trailer. Then both switches in off position would be all as normal, (backup camera showing), switch2 to on would enable accessory cameras, then:- switch1 off would be front, switch1 on would be trailer.

Just leave the camera override as is, and add power to the trailer cam.

another option would be to simply unplug the backup cam from under the tailgate, find a duplicate OEM connector and plug the trailer camera in there when towing.
