Hey everyone. I have a 2016 Tacoma (first Toyota) I am looking at lifting it. I need peoples opinions on what kit I should pick. I want decent travel, nice ride on the road, and decent performance. I don't want some Rough Country crap lift, nothing against their quality, I just know they ride like garbage. I am debating the icon lift but I don't know all the stuff I need. Do I need to buy a new adjustable lower control arm? Or are the stock ones adjustable?
My goal is to fit 285/70R17 BFGs with no to little trimming. Any help would be great since I am looking at ordering my lift this week.

Research the proper size wheels so you dont have to chop anything even with a lift with that tire size. Icon is good ... Contact Marie at Headstrong she will get you what you need for suspension ... the wheels are key for chop free.

Thanks for the link. And as far as wheel size I plan on going with aftermarket wheels to push the tires out more.

So do I need to get an aftermarket UCA? I need some way to re-align it correct?

If you want to run a icon set up with 285s your going to have to trim. Only way you won't is cranking up on the coils which is not recommended by Icon. The max recommended exposed thread for icon is 2.13" of thread. You will have to do the cmc and trim some of the fender well, only saying this because I run icons stage 7 kit with 285/75/17s and had to trim what I just explained

Ok...how much did you have to trim...this is not a pavement pounder so it will be bashed off road. I'm trying to get an idea of what I need to do.

The plastic fender well facing the back of the front tires for me is pretty much gone. Trimmed all plastic that rubbed after testing it on trails till I heard no more popping of plastic or tire wear on fender well. For the cmc just take it to an Offroad shop and they will chop a good chunk of metal off and weld a new plate that does not get in the way of the tire.

I trimmed more than I probably had to, but didn't want to have to worry about doing it another time

Would you happen to have a picture? I can cut and weld everything myself. I just don't want to install the lift and tires just to have it smash something and messing something up

Thanks man. I was about to buy the BDS 4" kit but I read some pretty bad reviews about them

That's what I was thinking unless you replace the arms and drop everything lower. I plan on going full long travel after the warranty is up, but I just want something decent for the next 5 years haha

Because it would fully void my warranty haha. I want to semi keep my warranty in stock. So the UCA's are adjustable up to 2 inches then?

from what most have reported, you can get a 2inch lift into alignment specs with factory UCAs
anything higher you need new UCAs.

not sure if LT will void your full warranty. Likely just your suspension.
Who knows depending on the dealer they'll say any mods void.
