I have a 2009 Tacoma with 17x9 wheels that have a -12 offset. I currently have 265 70 r17 tires on these wheels. Also I have a 3 inch front and 2 inch rear level. Eventually I want to get 16x8 wheels with 285 75 r16s. I need to know if anyone has anything similar and If I would be able to fit these without getting a higher lift. Also I’m wondering what would be the best offset to get the 16x8s in?

You will have more tire choices staying with 17's. I would just keep your current wheels and go with 285/70/17's they will be basically be the same diameter as the 285/75/16's. Lifts can be part of the equation for tire fit but there is a lot more to it. Thinking lift is the answer only sends you down the wrong path.

Its often recommended to not lift above 2-3”.

33”-35” on that lift is common.

When I ran 16x8 wheels with 285/75/16 I had a -12 offset. I believe all I needed was a cab mount chop if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago. Front was fine as I was running an aftermarket bumper. As stated above, IFS lift does not equate to more room for tires. Simply put if it rubs on stock suspension, it'll rub with a lift.
