I burnt up a relay behind my passenger side kick panel. Now I don't know which one it is. I think its the ADD or transmission relay. I have a 2000 4x4 auto transmission. I think the location is for 1998-2000 only. If anyone can take a picture or knows what it is then I can get a new one. The parts guy at the dealership has no idea.

No parts guys at toyota can find it in their diagrams. I can't find a part number or any info about this ADD relay. I guess I'll be driving a 2wd on 33 MT's for a while. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone has time to look under their kick panel or has the part number.

If he would take the time to look the service manual shows the location of all the relays. I have an 02 and a 95. I can look but part # is going to be different

So out of the blue the parts guy at the dealership called me. He said that relay is ONLY on the 2000 tacoma and some 4runners and its discontinued. One of the staff there has a 2000 4x4 and checked the part number. Hopefully I can find some still in stock somewhere. Of course there are never tacomas in the junk yard here.

Yes thats the one. It's a Discontinued part. I can't buy one. Why the hell would they do that? Now I have to figure out how to wire a generic 5 pin relay in there.

Hopefully someone can pull the relay and read the part #. I sometimes Google that to see what comes up.

Here is the part number 89531 35020. Taken from a unit off the same truck as mine. It says discontinued.

    here is the wiring.

it doesnt look that difficult. The 5 pin Bosch harness is avalible just about everywhere along with the relay. I do not see why you cant put male spade terminals on the relay harness leads and plug the wires in individually into the factory relay spot to test it.

I think the Amazon one is always out of stock. I'll keep an eye on it for a while. I may just go with a generic 5 pin like the Bosch if nothing comes up. At least I know I can fix it. My truck works fine in 2wd without it of course. Thanks everyone for the info and wiring diagram. Oh and I someone does happen upon one let me know.

The pictures are exactly how mine was mounted. There is a 98 taco for parts here but the guy wants to sell the whole truck. Some 4runners have it but the ones I looked at don't have it so far. I'll check with Camelback.

on a side note you said your burnt it up, how?

I read a reply related to there being a resistor inside the relay but that post seems to have disappeared, good catch on that who ever posted it.

I pulled out a bunch of Bosch and generic 5 pin relays and measured the control side resistance and and got between 79 and 82 ohms resisitance. Before hooking up a generic relay measure the resisitance across yours. Take the harness off and measure the B-Y and R-W resistance for the pin locations on the relay itself. When I gets some time this afternoon I will do the same on mine.

I accidentally started a fire when welding. All my fault. I didn't take good enough precautions but I had a fire extinguisher right beside me. I just burnt the relay and a few wires.... No major damage. And yes there is a resistor in that relay. I peeled the burnt plastic cover away and can see it. I might have a leed on a used one.... If not Camelback has one, but I need to call them because the don't ship to Canada on their web site.
