The end of the rearend tube has a lip that should go ing and pinch against the outer edge of bearing. To hold it from moving lile that. But something looks off. Is there a snap ring holding bearing on shat? Let me research it a bit.

Ive read that the bearing case play doesn't matter that much since it gets pushed against the axle flange. The more important thing is the axle seal that rides on your inner retainer. A lot of shops don't get these in the right place which allows gear oil past the retainer and into the wheel bearing. It then goes through the wheel bearing and into your brakes.

All 1st gen TRD e-locker rears are equipped for ABS even if the truck does not have the system.
Toyota describes the "fit" of the bearing case to the bearing as a press fit. In many cases a nice clean new (OE Toyota) bearing will slide into the case with just hand pressure. I have seen this many times with no issues down the line. However there should be no detectable play between the bearing and the case.
The bearing for 01 and up does go in one way. Couldn't say which way, all my experience has been with pre 01 rears/bearings and they are the same on both sides.

The looseness your concerned with is normal. The axle tub locks it down.

IMO, the lowrange documentation is unclear. Saying 'without abs' is not enough and leads to ambiguity. My truck could be defined as being without abs. It has no abs controller under the hood. Yet, by Toyota's definition it is in fact an abs equiped truck because the rear axle is setup for abs. The parts are not interchangeable between abs and non-abs trucks.

See Mr Dirty Pools definition below.

I bought an ABS version of the kit and everything checked out - high quality Koyo bearing, OEM seal and tone ring, all Japanese made parts. It might be worth giving them a call before ordering a non-ABS kit if there are multiple housings for non-ABS trucks, which I am not sure that there are or how that relates to the direction of the bearing.

Went through this with my 01 ABS axle - it had some wear from the bearing rubbing on it and trying to find a non-dealer replacement was a hassle. Ended up returning a junkyard axle that had even more wear than my original axle and ended up putting the original back in. There are no good aftermarket replacements for ABS axles and an online parts dealer wants $400. You being an 01 non-ABS truck I'm not sure if this is an option, but I wish I had been able to go with these:

    http://www.rockridge4wd.com/i-22813...-runner-prado-t-100-tundra-25-7-8-32-1-8.html

You can get 2 stronger chromoly axle shafts than OEM for $50 less than the price of one. You'd most likely have to call Nitro (I wouldn't call the retailer since they won't know the product as well presumably) and find out the measurements for the bearing and snap ring placement. I hope you find a cheap replacement.
