    oh and BTW

first thing tomorrow...go to a specialized RUNNING shoe store and get fitted for a pair of shoes

they should measure your gait and how your feet land and fit you with a proper pair of shoes designed to help with how YOU run

this will help a TON with avoiding injuries and your comfort level during and after the run

I did that already :D I have had them for a while, but was too busy with fire season to get any serious running done, I think they are just now broken in.

I have a pair of asics, those things are comfy, of course I have new insoles, but they are very nice to run in.

I think you should be more concerned with the 3 mile run at a 7 min pace. If you can do it, the 6 mile run will seem fairly easy. Someone mentioned starting with 1 mile runs, 5 days a week. I think that's a solid plan to avoid injuries and get you to your goal. Good luck!

1 more thing is your running shoes should only be used for running.

also, do not put your shoes in the dryer. it will break down the sole and end up causing you arch problems in the future. this happened to me my jr season of xc and i ended up missing districts. the times i were running would have qualified me for states
