So I am replacing my hub assembly and when I go to take it off a part of a seal comes off. I am thinking it is the inner hub seal or CV seal? It has to be on the CV side of the hub. The one on wheel side of hub is still intact (last pic) See pics.

Just need help identifying what it is.

The metal band should not be visible, correct?

    This seal is intact...

That is from in inner Hub Seal as you stated. That metal spring band is on the inside seal towards the CV Joint. Yes you will be able to see it when you are looking at that side of the seal.

The spring holding the seal is very loose and appears to have a kink in it. It's attached to the CV shaft though. Is that still called the inner Hub Seal?

Here is another angle behind the knuckle. CV Shaft on the left and I am pulling on the spring with hook gently.
